Beotodus (Cryoviperichthys xipharhinos) is a species of ice-dwelling Piscine Wyvern (or Fish Lizards) introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.
Being a Piscine Wyvern, Beotodus is related to Plesioth, Cephadrome, Lavasioth and Jyuratodus.
Etymology
Uncertainly origin.
Physical Appearance
Beotodus's stocky build and small fins are characteristics of other New World piscine wyverns. Nevertheless, its cranium is fashioned differently. Its head is slender, with bright green eyes, and a big black horn sticking out of it.
Beotodus has yellow on its head and underside and blackish-cyan scales. Beotodus has two tiny ear-like fins on its head and a single dorsal fin that resembles a shark. Beotodus uses snow to cover its head, body, and tail in order to shield its vulnerable areas, just as Jyuratodus does with mud.
Abilities
Like Zamtrios, Beotodus swims across deep snow and ice as if it were water. It can also be made to come to the surface if enough harm is done to its body and the snow covering it is broken off.
Beotodus is much more susceptible while its snow cover is being replaced. Beotodus can cause iceblight by hurling snow at pursuing hunts. They can even dig under the surface of the snow and then emerge moments later, dashing out of it.
Weaknesses
Because of this, it may more quickly ambush and overwhelm prey that is hampered by the snow, yet they are still susceptible to sonic bombs, bomb sounds, and screamer pods. If Beotodus is able to smash into a wall, all of the snow will fall off of it right away.
Ecology
Beotodus has a sleek body, allowing it to cut through the snow. This, combined with the horn on their head, allows them to go at insane speeds in the snow. They can also use this horn to fling snow at their prey. It is unknown why they do this, according to the Elder Dragon Observation Administration and Royal Research in Biology in Dùn Dè/Ediburgh.
Beotodus can also use the snow to cover parts of their body, protecting them. They have sharp teeth that are used to cut through flesh. Like Jyuratodus and Lavasioth, Beotodus has feet that are used to balance the Piscine Wyvern while they are out of the snow.
Beotodus lives in the Hoarfrost Reach, feeding mainly on Popo. They occasionally fight Banbaro and are fed on by larger predators such as Tigrex and Fulgur Anjanath.
Behavior
The Beotodus are fiercely protective of their territory and will attack anyone who enters. Moreover, they are regularly observed hurling snow at their target, perhaps in an attempt to blind or shock it.
Distribution and Habitat
Beotodus is found in the Hoarfrost Reach. There are many rumors that the Furahiya Mountains are the last standing of Old World Beotodus, who lived here in the past. Beotodus sightings from Agents of Shield and Avenger indicate that this animal is found in northern Fennoscandia, where it is the only Piscine Wyvern endemic to the region.

Trivia
The skull of what appears to be an enormous Beotodus can be found amidst a pile of Piscine Wyvern bones in the Boaboa Village in the Hoarfrost Reach. The size of the skull indicates that the owner was significantly larger than the Beotodus faced by the Hunters in the Reach today.
