Bakunawa is the one of the Dragon Gods introduced in Worldcraft: Extinction Part 1 and Weather Dragons: Duwa Bulan.

Etymology

Bakunawa is believed to be originally a compound word meaning "bent snake", from Proto-Western-Malayo-Polynesian *ba(ŋ)kuq ("bent", "curved") and *sawa ("large snake", "python").

Physical Appearance

Bakunawa is a female dragon god that resembles a Chinese dragon, except for wisteria-colored fins running on the elbows, knees, and back, including the tail. Bakunawa have delicate lavender to blue scales with a blackish underbelly and bioluminescent markings running on the near underbelly and whiskers. She had four yellowish horns, long whiskers, and algae attached to her chin. Bakunawa is well known for flying without her own wings by using special organs to aid in floating over and levitating.

Abilities

Bakunawa floats and have unique attacks either on water or on air with physical attacks, stronger than all known dragons. She devours a moon with teeth resembling Dunkleosteus and Thylacoleo to tear the small planet apart. She shoots the extrasolar flames with water and ice much like a meteor causing moderate damage. Her tail was used for creating the gigantic tsunamis or earthquakes like her family. Her limbs are used for crawling or walking for some reason.

Behavior

Bakunawa is guillotine and unfriendly. Eldritch Terror wants to destroy dwarf planets and meteors, including comets, as her goal. Our moon is important to protect from her eating, using musical instruments or noisy objects that she wards off and repels for our protection. She survived very long ago, and she cursed both Ernesto Guiriba and Jessie Nachtabel (both of German descent, between Bicolano and Tagalog descent) as her subjects from the Maranao shaman who took vengeance against the Marawi siege and Benham Rise.

Distribution and Habitat

The world's largest caldera volcano, Apolaki Caldera, is the lowest point of Benham Rise and is home to Bakunawa, who was imprisoned there by Bathala. This creature has been observed in the Sierra Madre Range on occasion.
