Lore
3000 BCE
Talos is commonly credited with having been created by Hephaestus at Zeus' request sometime after the Pleistocene in the 4th century BCE to guard Lady Europa from potential kidnappers. The god Hephaestus created Talos, a brass humanoid that stood 30 meters tall, and gave him to King Minos to guard the island of Crete from the invaders. Talos had to travel the entire length of the island, 260 kilometers, three times every day.
Talos might have been a bronze-age survivor, descended from the brazen race (Ancient Greek: χαλκοῦ γένους), which, according to Argonautica, originated from meliae "ash-tree nymphs" (The idea that Hesiod's bronze-age men were actually made of bronze is extended to gold-age men by Lucian for comic effect).
