His name Duleep (Sanskrit: "King" or "Protector of the Earth"); Singh (Sanskrit: "Lion").

Duleep Singh is recognized as a tragic and striking royal figure whose appearance conveyed both displacement and majesty. As an adult, Duleep had thick black hair, a well-groomed beard, warm brown complexion with subtle golden undertones, deep dark brown eyes that frequently seemed contemplative or sorrowful, and a tall, graceful posture. His regal outfit combines Victorian style, Sikh royal garb, and sometimes Hidden Savior travel clothes. His face bears the emotional burden of betrayal, exile, and identity loss as he ages.

Born in Lahore in 1838, Duleep Singh succeeded his father, Ranjit Singh, as Maharaja of the Sikh Empire when still a young boy. However, political unrest, colonial pressure, foreign power manipulation, animal attacks, and the actions of Assassins, Hunters, and Templars dominate his early years. Assassin and Templar agents in India try to shape Punjab's destiny. To avoid being utilized by Hidden Saviors, both groups aim to gain access to historic relic routes that penetrate India, Persia, and Central Asia. In order to aid Assassins and Hunters in their battle against Templars, young Duleep is surrounded by court intrigue, espionage, and covert faction warfare.

In 1848, Duleep befriended Brinley Ellsworth, the son of a British Indies Company (B.I.C.) official, who had been secretly tasked by his father to keep watch over the young Maharaja. The two spent a lot of time together as Ellsworth showed Duleep the rules of the compound where he lived, but were separted when Duleep was later exiled to England.

In April of 1849, Duleep was introduced to his new guardian, Dr. John Login, who traveled with the boy to Britain following his exile roughly five years later. Arriving in London, Duleep was introduced to Queen Victoria, who took an immediate liking to the boy and later became godmother to several of his children.

Duleep Singh was famously targeted by both the Templar Order and the Assassin Brotherhood. The Templars, specifically the British branch, sought to use him to legitimize their control over India's Isu Vaults. They viewed him as a "Living Key." Duleep was a close ally and financier for the Assassin Twins, Jacob and Evie Frye, as well as his grand-nephew Jayadeep Mir, during their 1868 liberation of London. However, he refused to officially join the Brotherhood, believing their methods were too focused on political murder rather than the preservation of Isu life. Duleep chose a third path, remaining independent of the "Great Game." He used his wealth and influence to fund Hidden Savior operations, ensuring that neither faction gained total control over the Sundrop Flower and Pieces of Eden sites in the Punjab.

Despite not being a superhuman fighter, Duleep has a number of amazing abilities. In addition to using weapons and any type of blade for defense, he may engage in hand-to-hand fighting for his allies. Even as a young child, he developed his political awareness by learning how to read intents, recognize deception, and practice diplomacy. depressing but incredibly captivating. He was a philosopher-king who was troubled by the loss of his realm, but he used that sorrow to save the world's hidden Isu past.

Hidden Saviors discover he has natural resistance to the Apple of Eden influence, immune to Moonstone Opal energy attacks, and strong emotional independence. This terrifies both Templars and Assassins.

Raised in royal Sikh customs, Duleep was an expert rider, a skilled marksman, knowledgeable about falconry and survival, and aware of the Templar Order's shortcomings. Duleep researches hidden faction conflicts, ancient Indian history, European politics, Sikh philosophy, and languages. He secretly digs Isu remains beneath historic Silk Road regions and studies ancient Hidden Savior routes across Punjab and the Himalayas.

Under royal control, Duleep is intelligent, self-assured, emotionally damaged, and kind. However, he detests being used as a pawn by both Templars and Assassins, manipulation, and imperial haughtiness. He places a high importance on individual freedom, in contrast to many rulers. depressing but incredibly captivating. He was a philosopher-king who was troubled by the loss of his realm, but he used that sorrow in order to safeguard world's hidden Isu past.

Duleep favors diplomacy and peace. He will, however, fight if compelled to do so or if his friends and family are harmed by the adversary, especially if it is to protect freedom or loved ones. He feels that "no ideology is worth losing humanity," in contrast to faction radicals. Because he rejects allegiance, is difficult to manipulate, and has sway over intellectuals and rulers, both camps view him as dangerous. He is seen by Templars as an erratic, self-governing monarch. With the exception of the Mir family and the Frye twins, Assassins distrust his impartiality and royal status. Because he chooses independence, Hidden Saviors respect and admire him.

Despite having a split ancestry, Duleep Singh was a key member of the Hidden Savior High Council, serving as a liaison between Britain, India, Sri Lanka, and France. He was also a member of the Assassin Order. He served as both Queen Arianna's "Closest Friend" and Anthony Fortiz-Pierre's diplomatic counselor. He assisted them in keeping their offspring—Rapunzel, Julius, Josette, Ruben, Vivienne, Mario, and Alice—hidden from the early forerunners of Abstergo. Lance Strongbow, Varian, Cassandra, and Eugene Fitzherbert were all mentored by Duleep. He showed Varian how to create "Nexus-Ink" for proto-hieroglyphic Isu-coding. He taught Cassandra how to wield the Urumi (flexible sword), a weapon that works well against animals with scales.

Henry Green, also known as Jayadeep Mir, Duleep's great-nephew, urged him to obtain architectural blueprints for Buckingham Palace. He was unsuccessful in this attempt, though, because individuals working for Crawford Starrick had already stolen the plans. In order to retrieve the designs, Duleep later informed Henry and his friend Evie Frye where they had been taken.

His mother had effectively ruled when he was very young and he managed to meet her again on 16 January 1861, in Calcutta and return with her to Britain. During the last two years of her life, his mother told the Maharaja about his Sikh heritage and the Empire which once had been his to rule. In June 1861, he was one of the first 25 Knights in the Order of the Star of India.

Shortly after, the Maharaja met with Evie and Jacob aboard their train hideout. Despite being grateful for the Assassins' help, Duleep concluded that their way of solving problems was not for him and that the matter of India's independence was larger than any one person. Thus, he resolved to dedicate the rest of his life to reclaiming his birthright and parted ways with the twins.

The ultimate canon battle between Arianna and Anthony and Francois-Thomas Germain took place in Paris, the capital city where Duleep passed away in 1893. After decades of emotional weariness and exile, his body inevitably deteriorates, but he passes away gently among dependable allies rather than by himself. According to reports, Arianna and Anthony covertly visit him. He urges them, "Do not let children inherit cages disguised as kingdoms," just before he passes away, and the couple mourns him in reverence.

Maharaja Duleep Singh's wish for his body to be returned to India was not honoured, in fear of unrest, given the symbolic value the funeral of the son of the Lion of the Punjab might have caused and the growing resentment of British rule. His body was brought back to be buried according to Christian rites, under the supervision of the India Office, in Elveden Church beside the grave of his wife Maharani Bamba, and his son Prince Edward Albert Duleep Singh. The graves are located on the west side of the Church.
