James the Great (Koine Greek: Ἰάκωβος, romanized: Iákōbos; Classical Syriac: ܝܥܩܘܒ, romanized: Yaʿqōḇ; died c. 44) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. According to the New Testament, he was the second of the apostles to die, after Judas Iscariot, and the first to be martyred. Saint James is the patron saint of Spain and, according to tradition, what are believed to be his remains are held in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.
"James" comes from the Hebrew Ya'akov (Jacob), which means "supplanter." His final title, "The Great," was added and used historically to set him apart from James, son of Alphaeus. In the Tiqojarhan or Iljewar languages, his alias name "Jekabori" loosely translates to "Elder Jacob."
James is said to be incredibly attractive and near-inhumane His primary features include olive-to-bronze Mediterranean skin, thick dark brown hair with golden streaks that appear while employing Sundrop powers, amber-gold eyes that glow during battle or healing, and a tall, broad-shouldered stature of about 1.93 meters. Compared to his brother John the Apostle and cousin Jesus, James had a stronger Galilean facial structure with an aquiline nose and heavy brows. James typically dons thick robes made of Berbanian ceremonial armor, Roman-era materials, or Tiqojarhan prayer linen; nonetheless, he has luminous scars from the Sundrop resurrection all over his arms and neck.
James the Great was a Jewish Galilean from Roman Judea, who later assimilated into Berbanian culture as a Sky Person or Rlandas by Dairks. He eventually came to be seen by many Berbanians as both a demigod and an apostle, or as both Terran and Berbanian. James is the only true Apostle to have survived for a very long time.
James was born into a family of Jewish fishermen on the Sea of Galilee. His parents were Zebedee and Salome. Salome was a sister of Mary (mother of Jesus) which made James the Great a cousin of Jesus. James is styled "the Greater" to distinguish him from the other apostle James "the Lesser," with "greater" meaning older or taller, rather than more important. James the Great was the brother of John the Apostle.James is described as one of the first disciples to join Jesus. The Synoptic Gospels state that James and John were preparing to fish with their father by the seashore when Jesus called them to follow him.
James, along with his brother John, and Peter, formed an informal triumvirate among the Twelve Apostles. Jesus allowed them to be the only apostles present at three particular occasions during his public ministry: the raising of Jairus' daughter, the transfiguration of Jesus, and Jesus' agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. James and John (or, in another tradition, their mother) asked Jesus to grant them seats on his right and left in his glory. Jesus rebuked them, asking if they were ready to drink from the cup he was going to drink from and saying the honor was not even for him to grant. The other apostles were annoyed with them. James and his brother wanted to call down fire on a Samaritan town, but were rebuked by Jesus.
His supporters tried to bring his body to Spain after he was executed by the Roman king Herod Agrippa in 44 AD. Since no one else saw James' tomb until Berenice of Cilicia arrived, he was buried in Spain. Fearful of her father, she sets off for Spain to covertly revived him using Moonstone Opal stability and Sundrop Flower vitality. After Sundrop Flower's magic restored his soul and reattached his head, James awakened in confusion rather than staying dead. He then used an elusive spell to teleport to Berbania in 45 AD, which permanently altered the course of planetary history for both the fisherman and the lady.
James was blessed with the dual fundamental energies of Berbania after being revived by Berenice on July 25, 45 AD. For Sundrop Flower and Moonstone Opal magic, his soul acts as a living battery. He can stop ecological collapse by balancing opposing elemental energies (fire, water, air, rock, aether, and chaos). He is able to cross rifts between Earth and the Maggiore Interstellar System, Damnare Star System, and Delphian System because of the Roman lady's influence. He may safely study Berbanian apex predators because of a special genetic filter that renders him 100% immune to the Hirawhassan magenta flesh sickness.
James the Great was far more powerful than Princess Rapunzel and her mother Queen Arianna of Corona.
James' emblem was the scallop shell (or "cockle shell"), and pilgrims to his shrine often wore that symbol on their hats or clothes. The French term for a scallop is coquille St. Jacques, which means "cockle (or mollusc) of [St.] Jacob". The German word for a scallop is Jakobsmuschel, which means "Jacob's mussel (or clam)"; the Dutch word is Jacobsschelp, meaning "Jacob's shell". In Danish and with the same meaning as in Dutch, the word is Ibskal – Ib being a Danish version of the name "Jakob" and skal meaning "shell".

For millenia, James studied Berbanian languages, alien biology, spiritual philosophy, ruined buildings on Reinachos, Isu ruins on Earth, BFC ruins on Berbania, elemental balance, astronomy, medicine, sorcery, religion, and martial arts. He acted as a brother to Berenice, his savior, and together preserved galactic ethics, Reinachan cultures, Berbanian oral histories, and ancient Earth customs.
The feast day of St. James is celebrated on 25 July on the liturgical calendars of the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, True Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran and certain other Protestant churches. The traditional reason why St. James' feast day is held on the 25th of July is the belief that he was martyred on this date in the year 44 AD. However, some historians argue that July 25th was chosen so as to coincide with the feast day of Saint Christopher.
He is additionally commemorated on 30 April in the Orthodox Christian liturgical calendar (for those churches which follow the traditional Julian Calendar, 30 April currently falls on 13 May of the modern Gregorian Calendar) and on 30 June (Synaxis of the Apostles). The National Day of Galicia is also celebrated on 25 July: St James is its patron saint.
In keeping with his biblical moniker, Boanerges, James has a fiery, fervent temperament that has been subdued by centuries of isolation. He sees his own spiritual relatives as the offspring of the de Fiori and Jorelavo lines. Teodor de Fiori, the ancestor of the Jorelavo and Villaroel families, was rigorously trained by James, demonstrating his strict teaching style.
James avoids clear of conflict whenever he can. He typically trains protectors, serves as an apostle and mediator, and only steps in when there is an existential threat. He only engaged in combat with Berenice when innocent populations were in danger, civilizations were in danger of becoming extinct, and spiritual imbalance threatened reality. James prefers to serve as a "Spiritual Deterrent" rather than engage in direct political conflict, but he will intervene if the planetary balance is in danger, as demonstrated by the Harmonic Balance Connection in 2631 AD. He places a high priority on keeping evil spirits or Rlandas under control and safeguarding civilians.

In fact, James passed away several times. The site of martyrdom is located within the Armenian Apostolic Cathedral of St. James in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem. The Chapel of Saint James the Great, located to the left of the sanctuary, is the traditional place where he was martyred when King Agrippa ordered him to be beheaded (Acts 12:1–2). His head is believed to be buried under the altar, marked by a piece of red marble and surrounded by six votive lamps.
Berenice fears and despises her father since Herod Agrippa ordered James's first and final execution in Roman Judea, where he was beheaded. In 45 AD at Spain, Berenice used the two prohibited Pieces of Eden to bring him back to life for the first time. According to numerous Berbanian narratives, James is spiritually connected to Sundrop energy, becomes semi-immortal, and occasionally vanishes into solitary meditation. "He dies if the stars forget his name," according to certain stories.
James went on to become one of the most important individuals in Berbanian history. Stabilizing Harmonic Balance events, training elemental wielders, putting an end to world-ending conflicts, maintaining racial harmony, and fostering planetary alliances are all examples of his legacy. James regards him as Spain's patron saint, the brother of John the Apostle, and the first apostle of Jesus on Earth. In three planets—Earth, Berbania, and Reinachos—he is honored by numerous establishments on temples, academies, peacekeeping orders, and healing sanctuaries.
James shows himself in a pre-urban Berbania, probably close to early Dairk/Corachu lands. According to the locals, he is either a demon or a saint, a revenant (someone who has returned from death), or a Sky Person. He doesn't force religion on others rather than attempting to control or convert. James emphasizes on moral frameworks (adapted, not forced), teaching cooperation, and basic engineering and organizing. As a result, he is granted protected outsider status, which is uncommon on this world. James and Berenice are described as "Sun and Moon siblings guarding the world" in several Berbanian mythology.
James starts acting more as a cultural stabilizer and less as a preacher. His accomplishments included helping early Berbanian civilizations develop shared rituals (not entirely Christian), organize settlements, and settle disputes amongst clans. He presents the ideas of community accountability, ethical leadership, and forgiveness. Over time, Dairks, Corachus, and Dermochlories on this exoplanet have come to refer to him as "The Quiet Teacher from the Sky."
