The Cuban Cockroach or Green Banana Cockroach (Panchlora nivea), is a small species of cockroach in the subfamily Panchlorinae.
This animal was introduced or mentioned in The Last Stormtroopers, Historya Davvun, Seven Code Talkers, No Way to Seaway, Weather Dragons, Project Daejeon, Two Lights, Worldcraft, Equation, and Rescris as part of Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, Monster Hunter series, and Assassin's Creed series sequels.
With a reference to Saint Kitts and Nevis, the scientific name Panchlora nivea means "snowy all green" in Latin and Ancient Greek. The Cuban cockroach was one of the many insect species originally described in the 1758 10th edition of Systema Naturae by Carl Linnaeus.
The smaller male Cuban Cockroaches are 12 to 15 mm long, while the females can reach a maximum length of 24 mm. Pale green to yellowish green in color, with a yellow stripe running up the sides, they are powerful aviators with wings. The nymphs burrow and are either brown or black.
The ootheca (egg case) is 3–4 mm (0.12–0.16 in) long, is curved, and has indentations that show where the eggs are located. A study found that they contained 28 to 60 eggs (average 46). The ootheca is carried internally by the female until the eggs hatch. At 24 °C (75 °F) the eggs hatch in about 48 days, after which male nymphs mature in about 144 days, and female nymphs mature in about 181 days.
The same skills as non-pest and non-invasive cockroaches. They have wings and can fly well.
Baking Soda and Sugar Mixture: All cockroach species will consume the poison (baking soda) and perish after being drawn to the food source (sugar).
They eat insects, fruits, and decomposing plants. Strong flyers, these cockroaches are frequently seen among plants, trees, shrubs, mulch piles, and other natural habitats. Additionally, wild predators and other pets may eat it. Because they are infrequently found indoors, most people do not consider green cockroaches to be a big problem. They can be considered a pest in outdoor settings when significant numbers take up residence in rubbish, wood heaps or under shrubs.
Because of their huge ootheca, female Cuban cockroaches can sometimes carry over 100 eggs at once. It takes roughly two months for these eggs to mature into the nymph stage inside the female. The nymphs then mature into their adult form for 100 days. A Cuban cockroach has a 20-month lifespan. They have difficulty breeding indoors and are rarely observed inside homes.
Even if these cockroaches won't flourish indoors, you can still feel much more at ease if you keep them out of your house. These are cordial with us.
Through the fruit trade, it has been observed as far north as Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and along the Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas. It is found in the subtropical or tropical climates of Cuba, the Caribbean, and the southern United States. Once in the nation, they dispersed throughout states like Florida, Alabama, and Texas along the warmer beaches. It is also feasible to keep this kind of roach as a pet because certain pet stores sell them. This insect is thought to have spread due to escaped pet roaches.
Since the green banana cockroach is rarely found indoors and is often found outside in North America, it is not regarded as a pest. The adults are frequently seen among plants, trees, and bushes. You can find the young beneath logs and other debris. It is mostly a nocturnal species that is frequently drawn to both indoor and outdoor lights.
