The Bjarndýrakóngur, the “King of the Bears”, is the undisputed monarch of the polar bears of Iceland. It is born from a female polar bear and a walrus or a bull.

A Bjarndærakóngur has one horn on its forehead and crimson cheeks. Its scepter of authority is a horn with a platinum globe at the tip and a pointed edge. The Bjarndærakóngur can always see its way in the darkness because it emits a strong light in every direction.
The Bjarndærakóngur is not just strong but also honorable and wise. It requires obedience and loyalty from other polar bears and can understand human speech. Although it can kill with its horn with ease, it only does it in self-defense or to punish misbehaving individuals.
