Libanoculex intermedius
β Lebanese amber is, to date, the oldest amber with intensive biological inclusions, and it is a very important material as its formation is contemporaneous with the appearance and beginning of radiation of flowering plants, with all what follows of co-evolution between pollinators and flowering plants. β

Oryctoantiquus is a genus of middle Eocene beetles in the Dynastinae clade. Oryctoantiquus is known for being the oldest known genus of Dynastinae and is also known for being the largest discovered Scarabaeidae so far. The genus only has one known species, Oryctoantiquus borealis.
The genus name is derived from the Greek word oryktes, meaning "digger", and the Latin word antiquuis, meaning "old". Thus meaning "old digger", referencing both the Dynastinae family's digging adaptations and the 45 million year old age of the fossil. The species name is derived from the Latin word borealis, meaning "northern" or "north", referencing that Oryctoantiquus borealis has a northern locality
Large, robust beetles with a thick cuticle are members of the Oryctini tribe. The appropriateness of the breeding media in which the larvae develop can affect the size of males as well as the features on their heads and pronotums. Oryctoantiquus borealis is thought to be 50 mm long, which is 5 mm longer than Cheirotonus otai, the largest known fossil of the Scarabaeidae.

Hypothetically theory of ancient animal's behavior.
This extinct species of phantom midge had a same behavior as extant mosquitoes, gnats, and midges.
The only known fossil of Oryctoantiquus borealis was found west of the town Mitchell, Oregon. Fossils of flora gathered in the same area indicated that they would have lived in a tropical, forested climate at the time that they thrived. However, during the time they were extant the climate of their habitat changed drastically from tropical to a cooler, temperate climate; this event is known as the Eocene-Oligocene extinction event.
