1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
2 teaspoons black pepper, divided
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, divided
1 shallot, finely chopped
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon chili flakes
½ cup vodka
¾ cup fish broth
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (more to taste)
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
In a large bowl, combine the shrimp with sweet paprika, garlic powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon black pepper. Toss to coat and set aside.
In a skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and sear for 1 minute per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Reduce heat to medium, then add garlic and shallot to the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring often, until soft and fragrant.
Stir in chili flakes, and the remaining salt and pepper.
Deglaze the skillet with vodka, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Let simmer for 3 minutes.
Add the fish broth and bring to a boil. Slowly add the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter, stirring until fully dissolved.
Return the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 1 more minute until heated through.
Finish the dish with lemon juice, freshly ground black pepper, and parsley. Serve and enjoy!
