This comforting baked spaghetti casserole combines tender pasta, savory meat sauce, and a blend of cheeses, all baked to perfection. It's an ideal dish for family dinners, potlucks, or meal prepping.
1 (16 oz) package spaghetti
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 (32 oz) jar meatless spaghetti sauce
½ tsp seasoned salt
2 large eggs
⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
5 tbsp butter, melted
2 cups small curd cottage cheese
5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Cook Spaghetti: In a large pot, bring lightly salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti until tender but firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Prepare Meat Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, cook and stir ground beef and chopped onion until the meat is browned and the onion is soft and translucent, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat, then stir in spaghetti sauce and seasoned salt.
Mix Pasta: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, Parmesan cheese, and melted butter. Add the cooked spaghetti to this mixture and toss to coat evenly.
Assemble Casserole: Place half of the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish. Layer with half of the cottage cheese, 2 cups of mozzarella cheese, and half of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on top. Continue to bake until the cheese is melted and lightly browned, about 20 to 25 minutes.
Serve: Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
