This Healthy Chocolate Banana Bread is a rich and moist treat that’s surprisingly healthy. With no added sugar or oil, it’s sweetened naturally with ripe bananas and a sugar-free sweetener. The use of oat flour and cocoa powder makes it a nutrient-packed, gluten-free option. Adding a scoop of protein powder increases the protein content for a satisfying snack or dessert!
3 medium ripe bananas (about 12 oz/360 g)
2 large eggs
¼ cup (60 g) nut butter (almond, peanut, or sunflower seed butter)
⅓ cup (70 g) granular sweetener (monk fruit or brown sugar)
1 tsp vanilla extract
⅙ tsp sea salt
1 ½ cup (150 g) oat flour
½ cup (50 g) cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
¼ cup (40 g) chocolate chips
High Protein Option:
½ cup (50 g) protein powder (vanilla or chocolate flavor)
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 7.9-inch loaf pan with parchment paper or grease it with oil.
In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
Stir in the nut butter, eggs, sweetener, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
Add oat flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder to the wet ingredients. Mix until fully combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and protein powder (if using).
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and top with extra chocolate chips if desired.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
