Honey Garlic Chicken is a simple yet incredibly flavorful dish made with just five ingredients. The combination of honey, garlic, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar creates a sticky, sweet, and savory sauce that perfectly coats the chicken. This dish is fast to prepare and requires minimal ingredients, making it an ideal choice for busy nights or when you need a delicious meal in just 12 minutes. It pairs beautifully with rice or roasted vegetables, and you can easily customize it with other proteins such as shrimp or tofu for variety.
Ingredients:
500g (1 lb) chicken breast, boneless and skinless (2 pieces)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 cup flour
3 1/2 tbsp (50g) unsalted butter (or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar)
1 tbsp soy sauce (light or all-purpose)
1/3 cup honey (or maple syrup)
Directions:
Cut the chicken breasts in half horizontally to create 4 pieces. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Place the flour in a shallow dish and coat the chicken pieces in the flour, shaking off any excess.
Heat most of the butter in a large skillet over high heat, saving about 1 teaspoon for later.
Place the chicken in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden.
Reduce the heat to medium-high. Make room in the pan and add the minced garlic along with the remaining butter. Stir briefly until the garlic is fragrant.
Add the vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir or shake the pan to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 1 minute until it slightly thickens.
Turn the chicken to coat in the sauce. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a touch of water and stir.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Serve the chicken on plates and drizzle with the remaining sauce.
