These Smash Burger Tacos are the perfect combination of two classic favorites: juicy, flavorful burgers and crispy tacos. With a savory ground beef patty cooked in a tortilla and topped with gooey cheese, this dish is a fun and delicious twist. The homemade Big Mac-style sauce adds a tangy bite, while the fresh lettuce, pickles, and onions provide crunch and flavor. Perfect for a quick dinner or a fun weeknight meal, this recipe is sure to please everyone at the table. You can easily swap the sauce with your favorite condiments, or use street-sized tortillas for a more bite-sized version.
For the burger sauce/Big Mac sauce:
1 cup mayonnaise
4 tablespoons pickle relish
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon sugar
½ tablespoon white vinegar
1¼ teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
For the tacos:
4 flour tortillas (6-inch size)
1 lb lean ground beef
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon neutral oil (vegetable, canola, or avocado)
4 slices American cheese (or your preferred cheese)
1 small onion, diced
Dill pickle chips
Shredded iceberg lettuce
Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, pickle relish, Dijon mustard, sugar, vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth and set aside.
Prepare the ground beef: Divide the ground beef into four equal portions. Lay a tortilla on your work surface and spread one portion of the beef evenly across the surface, covering the entire tortilla. Season with salt and pepper.
Cook the patties: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and lightly coat it with oil. Place the tortilla, beef side down, on the skillet and press down with a spatula to form a thin patty. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until a golden-brown crust forms, then flip and cook for another 1-3 minutes. Place a slice of cheese on top and allow it to melt.
Assemble the tacos: Remove the taco from the skillet and repeat the process for the remaining tacos. Once all tacos are cooked, assemble them by adding lettuce, diced onions, pickles, and the Big Mac sauce on top.
Serve: Serve the smash burger tacos immediately while hot.
