This Brown Sugar Meatloaf is a family favorite, with its rich and tender texture and the perfect combination of savory and sweet flavors. The secret ingredient, powdered onion soup mix, adds an extra depth of flavor, while the brown sugar glaze provides a tangy sweetness that elevates the meatloaf to a whole new level. It's the ultimate comfort food, ideal for dinner or any special occasion.
1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 ounce packet onion soup mix
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon table salt (or to taste)
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 cup milk
Sauce:
½ cup ketchup
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup brown sugar
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Gently crumble ground beef in a large bowl, breaking it up into small pieces. Add remaining meatloaf ingredients to the bowl and mix gently, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Mix all sauce ingredients together and spread half of the sauce along the bottom and sides of a bread loaf pan.
Add the meat mixture to the loaf pan and press firmly into a loaf shape.
Liberally paint the remaining sauce over the loaf.
Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reads 165°F (74°C).
Let the meatloaf rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
