This Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken combines the rich flavors of garlic, Parmesan cheese, and a perfectly cooked chicken breast. The garlic adds an aromatic depth, while the Parmesan creates a savory crust that crisps up beautifully in the oven. This dish is not only easy to make but also versatile, making it perfect for a weeknight dinner or as the star of a family gathering. For a lighter version, you can substitute the Parmesan with a reduced-fat cheese, and it pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables or a light salad.
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons olive oil (or butter)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil (or butter) over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and dried thyme.
Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Once the chicken is seared, drizzle the lemon juice and lemon zest over the chicken, then sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
