I Sylvarum libri duo priores di Mariangelo Accursio: prime considerazionii
Abstract.
This paper examines for the first time the Sylvarum libri duo priores, Accursio’s collection of Latin poems, the only extant printed copy of which is now kept in Paris at the Bibliothèque Mazarine. This work may have been printed in only one or just a few copies, since the preserved book shows no date and no name of place or printer and contains corrections in Accursio’s own hand. Nonetheless it is possible to demonstrate that the collection was printed by Petrus Apianus in Ingolstadt in the early 1530s. The paper also offers an overview of the contents of the thirteen poems of the collection and a translation of three of them.
