Therapy online via Skype for Anxiety and Depression

Therapy online via Skype for Anxiety and Depression

Therapy via Skype for overcoming anxiety and depression

Mindfulness-based Psychotherapy is very effective because it works on changing the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression rather than just treating symptoms. The focus is on teaching you practical tools and techniques that you can apply yourself between sessions. This is why most of my clients see improvements very much quicker than is reported for the more conventional counseling through talking about your feelings.

If you're struggling with anxiety or depression and you maybe have already tried conventional office based counseling or perhaps you've also tried medications and not gotten the results that you were looking for then you might consider a different approach. I offer mindfulness based therapy via Skype. This is a very effective way of really giving you the tools you need to overcome longstanding patterns of anxiety and depression. The mindfulness therapy therapy approach that I've developed is very effective to help you control the reactive thinking that feeds your anxiety or depression.

And most of my clients have already tried medications with little benefit and they've also tried, you know, classical analytic type talk therapy with very little results either. Most of the approaches out there that are commonly available through the medical system are really based on a kind of cognitive analytic tradition that is primarily trying to change the way that you think. But it doesn't necessarily change the way that you feel and that's the issue.

Feelings really require a different approach than just analysis and trying to construct arguments against feeling anxious, for example. Everyone who suffers from panic attacks knows that they are having an irrational episode. They know that, at least every one I've ever worked with knows that they do not need to feel the anxiety or the depression or panic attacks that they experience, but they can't stop them. Thoughts alone, trying to convince yourself not to feel the way you feel is just not really sufficient. You have to get down to the level of the emotions themselves. And that's what we focus on in the mindfulness therapy approach that I have developed and teach online.

If you would like to learn more about therapy via Skype and the mindfulness approach do go to my web sites and e-mail me. We can schedule a Skype therapy session at a time that works for you.

Also the online therapy movement is becoming increasingly popular because people want to take more charge of their recovery. They don't just want to go somewhere for a treatment, they want to learn how to manage their own minds. And that's very much at the center of the online therapy movement.

Skype therapy and some real advantages for you, the client, because you can see the therapist as well as talk to them in real time. So this makes the the communication very much more effective. And from my experience it is equally effective to office based, in person therapy.

There is really no difference at all, especially if you are following the kind of teaching that I offer via Skype, which is based on giving you the tools. You do not need to be in person to learn ways of working with emotions.

So if you'd like to learn more about therapy via Skype with me and the mindfulness approach and you'd like to get started and you would like to schedule a Skype therapy session, please email me and let's get started.

Online Mindfulness Therapy via Skype for Overcoming Anxiety and Depression without drugs

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I offer therapy via Skype as an alternative to conventional in-person therapy sessions. Online therapy provides an excellent way to get effective help for managing anxiety, for overcoming depression or for help with recovery from an addiction.

There is really no difference in the quality of service, whether therapy is online or in-person. In both situations you are able to see each other and talk to each other in real time, and that's the main factor. Now, of course, there are some styles of psychotherapy that require a much more intimate connection between the psychotherapist and the client. But most forms of psychotherapy are really concerned with teaching you better ways of managing your emotions. That's an educational process and that can work very well online as we are indeed seeing with higher education, which is now very commonly offered online as well as in the classroom.

So, during the online therapy sessions that I offer via Skype I will be teaching you Mindfulness Therapy, which is a particular way of working with emotions that helps you really change the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression, rather than just treating the symptoms. This is quite a different approach than traditional talk therapy.

Mindfulness Therapy is similar to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, in that it works at the mechanistic level, the actual mechanism that causes your emotional suffering. With cognitive therapy you are, of course, working on changing recurrent thought patterns that are negative and dysfunctional into positive thought patterns that are life-enhancing and lead to a better sense of well-being. And that's fine, that's a very good approach.

However, in my experience, many clients come to me, having tried CBT and complain that although they have been working hard to change their thoughts, it doesn't actually change the way they feel. They still suffer from the same anxiety or depression, and this is because the thoughts are actually the byproduct of something else, and that is the underlying core emotions. The thoughts are the byproduct of emotion.

You have to work directly with the anxiety and depression or addiction, looking into the structure of how that emotion works. When you can change the emotion the thoughts will change themselves. They will simply adapt to the new state of emotion that has developed.

So, really the key to lasting change and well-being is to change things at the emotional level. In Mindfulness Therapy we do just this, we essentially focus mindfulness, which is a form of conscious awareness, directly on our emotions.

So, in Mindfulness Therapy you focus directly on changing your emotions, on helping them heal, and we do this in a number of different ways, which you can read about on my website and by watching some of the videos on my website.

If you would like to learn more about Mindfulness Therapy via Skype, do please CONTACT ME and then we can schedule a trial Skype therapy session. There is no upfront payment required for a trial session. It is your opportunity to see if this approach is going to work for you. If it is effective for you and notice changes within that first session and you would like to continue online therapy with me, then you pay for that trial session and we would set up a follow-on session. Typically I see people on a weekly basis until they have learned the skills that they need and achieved the results that they are looking to achieve in reducing anxiety or depression or overcoming an addiction.

Most people can expect to see results quite quickly with Mindfulness Therapy because it is so directly focused on changing that underlying habitual process that creates the emotions.

So, if you would like to schedule a therapy session with me please send me an email. Ask any questions you may have and then, when you feel ready, we can schedule a Skype therapy session. Thank you.

Therapy via Skype for controlling anxiety and depression

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist based in Colorado and I offer psychotherapy by Skype for the treatment of anxiety and depression, for agoraphobia, for work with addiction, for help with recovery from traumatic memories such as in PTSD, and I also work with OCD and obsessive-compulsive thoughts and memories and images.

Therapy by Skype is a very good choice if you're looking for an alternative to the more conventional medical-based treatments for anxiety and depression. So medications are useful when you need immediate relief from the symptoms of anxiety and depression. But it's important to understand the medications by themselves are not sufficient to treat the underlying cause of your anxiety and depression.

If you want to really break free from emotional suffering you must work out the psychological level, you have to work at the level of the reactive habitual thinking and the emotional reactivity that fuels anxiety and depression.

So that is where Mindfulness Therapy comes in and this form of therapy works very well when delivered over Skype. Skype is an excellent medium because it allows you to see each other and if you can see each other, then therapy by Skype is just as effective as therapy in person. There's really no difference. But you must be able to see each other. If you can see each other. then you will get the quality of communication necessary for effective psychotherapy.

So if you're interested in in psychotherapy by Skype, do please reach out to me. Simply go to my Contact Page and email me with any questions you may have. Feel free to tell me more about yourself and how I can help you and what you've tried so far. And if you want to schedule Skype Therapy with me, then simply tell me what time's work for you.

So I see people throughout North America and also Western Europe and the UK and as far away as Australia and South Korea.

Mindfulness Therapy is about changing things at the psychological level, it's about bringing mindfulness, which is a form of very direct conscious awareness to look closely at your anxiety or depression or emotional trauma or traumatic memories to see how they actually work. What happens in the mind?

So one of the first things that we notice when we actually look at our emotions is the whole array of reactive thinking that gets triggered by those emotions.

So in Mindfulness Therapy, one of the things we understand is a little different than in conventional therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, is that we understand that thoughts do not cause emotions, but emotions rather cause those thoughts. The emotions take form in thoughts and the reactive form feeds the underlying emotion, so creating a positive feedback loop that reinforces the anxiety or depression.

Rumination does not cause depression, but rumination feeds the depression. Chronic worrying does not cause anxiety, but it feeds the underlying anxiety.

So uncovering the particular reactive thought profiles that are feeding your anxiety or depression is really very important. And that's the first thing that we look at. We look to see what those reactive thoughts are and then we start to bring the magic of mindfulness to work here, because when you develop mindfulness, what you're doing is you're changing the relationship you have with those thoughts and emotions.
