Skype Therapy - Speak with an online therapist

Let me answer your questions about online therapy, and when you are ready, you can schedule a Skype therapy session with me.

If you would like to talk with a therapist online, then go to my online therapy website to learn about Online Psychotherapy over Skype for the treatment of chronic anxiety and excessive worrying and chronic depression, help for recovery from an addiction, OCD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Psychological Trauma and other common types of emotional suffering not requiring medical treatment.

Standard counseling can be helpful, but often it does not look at the underlying structure that creates your depression or anxiety.

This also applies to the use of medications - the antidepressant may reduce symptoms for a while, but medications can not heal the underlying psychological process that generates your anxiety or depression.

The kind of psychotherapy that I provide is called Mindfulness Therapy, which can be very effective for managing chronic anxiety and for treating chronic depression or other common psychological difficulties resulting from conditioned negative thinking. Most of my clients experience quite significant improvements after the first couple of sessions of Mindfulness Therapy.

The whole focus of Skype therapy is to teach you how to work effectively with anxiety or with depression or with any other difficult emotion using the techniques of mindfulness which I have developed over the years.

Probably the two most important things that you will learn during the Skype therapy sessions are, number 1, how to form a stable and non-reactive relationship with your emotions and also with your thoughts. This is critical because if you become lost in your emotions or your thoughts then you effectively inhibit the process of healing, of emotional transformation. You remain lost and that feeds the underlying habit that sustains the anxiety or depression. So, that's very important.

The second aspect of mindfulness therapy that most people find immensely valuable is to work on changing the imagery of the emotions. Emotions are caused by a particular form of imagery that become stuck and habitual in the mind. This emotional imagery is what actually assembles feeling energy together and forms the emotion, whether that is fear or depression or sadness or guilt. Whatever it might be there is always going to be some form of emotional imagery.

During mindfulness work we investigate, using mindfulness, to see exactly how your emotions work. We look primarily at building a relationship with your emotions and then investigating the emotional imagery. Once you see this emotional imagery then you can begin to change it, and as you change the emotional imagery you change the anxiety itself. So this is a very effective and direct way of taking charge of changing your emotional habits.

If you would like to learn more about the methods of Mindfulness Therapy that I offer over Skype then simply go to my website, read more on the website, and then contact me via email to schedule a Skype therapy session.

Almost all my clients see dramatic improvements once they start applying mindfulness to their anxiety or depression. So, I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

Online Mindfulness Psychotherapist via Skype for Overcoming Anxiety without relying on anti-anxiety medications

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist specializing in Mindfulness Therapy. So if you're looking for an online psychotherapist who can help you overcome anxiety using the techniques of Mindfulness Therapy then please go to my website and contact me with any questions you may have about this approach and whether it will work for you.

My clients tell me they really enjoy Mindfulness Therapy, particularly because it gives you very practical methods that you can use yourself between therapy sessions. So you effectively will be developing a set of skills for working with your anxiety and these skills will help you overcome the habitual reactivity that causes your anxiety. It also will help you reduce the intensity of your anxiety.

So there are many advantages of working with an online therapist for anxiety or depression or any other emotional problem. Convenience of course, is one of the main reasons why people like online therapy and indeed it is becoming increasingly popular. Like anything else it's web-based and people run their lives from the interface of Google or their computer; they like Internet choice, and choice is one of the main features of online therapy. The Online Therapy movement means you can browse hundreds of different types of therapy and different therapists to find what suits you. So that greater freedom of choice is an important factor for online therapy and that's why people choose this approach.

Many of my clients have already been to traditional in-person therapists and have often tried medications, and generally the feedback that I get is that traditional therapy may be useful up to a point but it doesn't seem to really change the underlying cause of anxiety and depression, and that's why people come to me for help using these mindfulness methods that I've developed over the years.

Mindfulness Therapy is very much focused on helping you change the underlying cause of your anxiety; the actual mechanism that creates anxiety now, not analyzing your past or trying to develop some sort of different understanding so much, but really more, looking at the mechanism that creates anxiety and changing that right now, the way it affects you right now.

Mindfulness training, of course, is all about focusing on the present moment. How you experience things now is what is important, much more so than just analyzing the past. Of course, if past emotional trauma is affecting how you experience things now and it's a factor that causes anxiety, then we work on that, but we work on how it works in the present, and that is one thing that makes mindfulness so powerful.

So we're not really just trying to deliver different ways of understanding our mind. We're trying to change the way that the mind works and that is very much more effective in the long run.

Medications. Again they have their place, but do they really change anything? Do they change the underlying psychological habits that create your anxiety? Do they stop anxiety producing thoughts? No. Generally medications do very little other than reduce symptoms for a while.

But it's the same thing, you have to get to the underlying cause, not just treat symptoms.

So if you'd like to learn more about working with an online therapist for your anxiety and you would like to learn more about the Mindfulness Therapy approach that I teach, please go to my website and please reach out to me with any questions you may have. I'm happy to answer your questions.

When you feel ready, you can schedule an online therapy session with me over Skype and you will see for yourself just how effective Mindfulness Therapy can be for overcoming anxiety.

Typically, most of the clients that I have worked with report significant changes and improvements within the first three or four sessions, and that's what you should expect. Psychotherapy should not be a long-term process. You should expect to see changes within weeks, not months or years. If it takes that long then I would simply ask you to question whether that approach is right for you.

Online therapy for anxiety & depression - Talk to a therapist online

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong and I am a professional online therapist and I offer online therapy for depression, also online psychotherapy for anxiety and other emotional problems that you may be experiencing.

Most people really like the idea of speaking to a psychotherapist online through Skype because it is more comfortable and convenient for you. Talking to a therapist online also offers more privacy for you. You may be embarrassed to talk to a therapist in the first place, but the online therapy option definitely removes this barrier. You may also choose to speak with a therapist online if you cannot find a local psychotherapist to talk to. I see many expats living abroad for the same reason

If you are suffering from severe depression then you should seek help from your doctor. But, for most people with depression and anxiety, what you really need are practical solutions; ways of working with your emotions that allow them to heal and learning how to break the cycle of becoming overwhelmed by emotional reactivity. This can be done very well through Skype and I will teach you very practical and effective mindfulness-based techniques for overcoming depression, anxiety and many other forms of emotional suffering.

Speak to a therapist online from home using Skype

It's also, of course, very difficult for some people to leave home: They may have family commitments at home, young children, etc, and so the online therapy option is very convenient. Many people live in rural areas and don't have access to a therapist, or they may simply want to be more discrete in finding someone to work with and the online option is certainly very good for that, and means that you can receive help for your depression or anxiety without anyone else knowing, unless you wish to tell them.

So, online therapy via Skype is growing in popularity and is a very good choice for many people. If you would like to learn more about online therapy for your anxiety or depression, please visit my website and contact me - I will be happy to talk to you and answer your questions, and we can discuss scheduling a Skype Therapy session to help you manage your depression, anxiety or other emotional problems. So, please visit my website and contact me today. Thank you!

Online Therapist for OCD and Intrusive Thoughts

Welcome! If you'd like to learn how to cure OCD intrusive thoughts then you might want to consider a few sessions of online Mindfulness Therapy with me.

Mindfulness Therapy is a very effective way of working with intrusive thoughts and obsessive thoughts in general. It helps you learn how to change the relationship that you have to thoughts in general, so that you don't become overwhelmed by them, that you don't become identified with thoughts.

That is the first key training in Mindfulness Therapy, is how to be with your thoughts without becoming reactive, without becoming identified with them, without allowing them to dominates the mind. It is possible to sit with your thoughts and see them as objects in the mind the same way that you could sit with a dangerous animal and watch it, without becoming overwhelmed with fear.

Let us imagine a trip to the zoo. We see animals in the zoo that could be very dangerous if we didn't have a good relationship with them. In that case we are separated by the cage that the animals are in. It is possible to put your thoughts into a cage too if necessary.

But the thing is, when you work with your thoughts using mindfulness you can basically create the right internal situation whereby you can be with that thought without becoming overwhelmed.

So the primary way we do this is by actually meditating on our thoughts. We deliberately choose to meditate on our intrusive thoughts but we do it under controlled circumstances. We make the choice to invite this thought into the mind for the purpose of training with it, so that's quite different.

The main problem with OCD intrusive thoughts is that they there's no consciousness involved. They just arise spontaneously in a habitual conditioned manner and then create emotional suffering. But we can change that by choosing to invite a scary thought into the mind, but on our terms, and that makes all the difference.

So building a real relationship with the thoughts in which we learn how to become less and less reactive is a primary function that we develop during mindfulness therapy sessions. Another thing that is quite interesting and that I will teach you and show you how to do during these therapy sessions, is how to work with the imagery of the thoughts.

So any thought that has an emotional charge to it will have associated emotional imagery. The most simple example of that is that the emotional charge of the thought appears very large and very close and usually above us.

That's why we say "I feel overwhelmed" by the thought, because literally we seem the thought above us. And it has to be big in order to be overwhelming. And it has to be very close to be overwhelming. So the imagery of the thought is really quite important. Actually, I would say it's vitally important.

When we meditate on our thoughts consciously we get to see this imagery and when we see the imagery then we can change that imagery because all emotional imagery is a product of habit, of conditioning, and habits can be changed when we develop a conscious relationship with the habit.

So we look at the imagery of our emotions, our emotionally charged thoughts, and we help change that imagery and diminish the emotional charge of the thoughts.

So this is working with the emotions underneath the thoughts in a very productive and positive way that leads to the resolution and basically the healing of the thoughts so it no longer has that emotional charge that makes it intrusive.

So this is a very effective way of working with obsessive thoughts, with intrusive thoughts, and for basically neutralizing them so that they don't catalyze compulsive behaviors which is the second stage of OCD.

After the intrusive thoughts comes compulsive behaviors. But those behaviors are powered by the emotional charge of the intrusive thoughts.

So if you would like to learn more about how to cure OCD, how to basically neutralize those intrusive thoughts and break out of the very scary place that OCD intrusive thoughts create, do please send me an email and let's schedule a trial therapy session via Skype, and I will show you how to work with your thoughts using mindfulness.

Mindfulness Therapy is by far the most effective method out there, besides CBT, and most people that I work with see quite dramatic changes within the first three to four sessions. So please contact me and let's schedule a session.

Online Mindfulness Therapy for PTSD

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I specialize in Mindfulness Therapy for the treatment of anxiety, depression, addiction and also for working with traumatic memories and PTSD.

So I'm often asked what's the best approach for overcoming traumatic memories and managing PTSD preferably without the use of medications. My answer is that I really recommend that you work with a therapist who is experienced with working with trauma and one that really understands the structure of trauma, how it actually works in the mind.

I find that Mindfulness Therapy is one of the best approaches for working with PTSD because it does just that, it looks at the actual structure of those traumatic memories and how they work. And it looks at the patterns of reactive emotions that typically arise around the traumatic memory, whatever those emotions may be, such as anger, depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, you name it.

So that's what I mean by the structure of your trauma. We need to look at the actual memory imagery, itself. And we need to look at these patterns of habitual emotional reactivity that really feed that traumatic memory and stop it from healing.

It is very difficult for the mind to process that intense emotional energy, and when it gets stuck one is unable to process it, then it constellates around the imagery. This is the source of flashbacks, for example, that many soldiers experience when they return from the battlefield. It's the imagery that causes the trauma. That's the important thing to understand here.

So during Mindfulness Therapy we work on exploring this imagery looking at its structure in detail and then exploring how to change that imagery to help it reprocess and become digested and assimilated so that it no longer triggers emotional trauma.

So seeing that is really important. So the first thing we focus on is trying to create some distance, if you like, between you and the memory image. We do this by developing your position as the Observer looking at the image to break that habit of reactive identification, which is the technical term for what happens in a flashback, where you literally collapse into the picture and you become the picture, or part of the picture. That's reactive identification. We lose our perspective and we become dominated by the memory image.

So we need to train ourselves to be able to maintain our separate position as the observer.

We do this by the process of mindfulness meditation where we are literally meditating on that traumatic memory image. But now we're doing it consciously on our terms and that brings a dramatically different result and outcome. We train with it. We learn to sit with it. We watch how we react to it. If we start to collapse into the image then we watch that, we see it clearly and we stop it before it takes effect.

We start to change the structure of the memory image too. For example, make it smaller. It's quite remarkable how much relief you can get by simply taking that memory image and making it really small, making it the size of a grain of sand, and taking that memory image and then placing it somewhere that feels right. It might be to place it on the floor; it might be to place it on a beach with other grains of sand.

Then the second part of working with PTSD is reprocessing the emotional reactions. Now many of them will also change when you can reprocess the trauma itself because those emotional reactions are feeding off the traumatic emotion itself; that is the fuel that feeds the emotional reactions of fear, of depression, of guilt, of shame, or whatever it might be, or helplessness.

In meditation work with mindfulness we are actually simply speeding up this process of healing.

So being able to work via Skype is very popular. It's more convenient and it's very comfortable for many people. It is less clinical in nature. So we don't pursue clinical treatment in online therapy; what we do is we work on changing and healing the underlying process that produces your PTSD symptoms.

So if you would like to learn more, please contact me and schedule a session. Typically you'll see quite big changes within three to four sessions once you start applying the mindfulness techniques that I will be teaching you during these sessions.

Online Mindfulness Therapy for Stress Management

Online Mindfulness Therapy for Stress Reduction provides an extremely effective tool for managing stress. During these online mindfulness therapy sessions I will teach you specific ways of working with the habitual patterns of reactive thinking that contribute so much to emotional stress, worrying, anxiety and depression.

This approach is very effective because it works on changing the underlying process that causes stress, and most people see dramatic improvements and significant reduction in their stress levels after 3-4 online sessions.

The first step in mindfulness training is to train ourselves to become aware of reactive thoughts the moment they arise. Of course our habit is one of unawareness, which results in becoming lost in our thoughts. The thoughts proliferate and overpower the mind causing emotional stress and anxiety.

When the mind becomes crowded with thoughts it become less able to make decisions and skillful actions and more prone to error, which causes more stress-based thinking.

Reactive thinking creates a vicious cycle that leads to more stress and more reactive thinking. If we do not gain control of this reactive process it can lead to depression and chronic anxiety. Chronic stress can also lead to health problems and can seriously affect our relationships, too.

When we are over-stressed we tend to become more irritable and angry. Our family life suffers and we often become more withdrawn and disconnected from life. Chronic stress can also lead to addiction, and is one of the major contributing factors for alcoholism and substance abuse.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional online therapist. I offer online therapy via Skype for anxiety, depression and for stress.

I teach Mindfulness Therapy for stress reduction. This approach is very effective for helping you change the underlying process that causes emotional stress. Now, what is that underlying process?

Well, if you look closely you will see that the majority of stress that we experience is produced by uncontrolled reactive thinking. We may find some stimulus that generates an anxiety or concern and then immediately we start proliferating thoughts; thoughts around "What if...?" or anticipation of some kind of catastrophe.

So, this kind of catastrophic thinking, rumination, or just general proliferation of thought from the single stimulus is what generates most of our emotional reactivity.

The purpose of online mindfulness therapy for reducing stress is to teach you how to prevent this process of reactive proliferation of thinking.

Mindfulness is a very sophisticated tool of awareness that allows you to see what is happening when it is happening so you can catch these reactive thinking processes earl on, before they start to gain momentum and cause emotional stress.

So that is, in brief, what we focus on during these sessions of online mindfulness therapy for emotional stress reduction. If you would like to learn more, please read my website and then please contact me and we can schedule a Skype therapy session to help you work on reducing your stress levels through mindfulness therapy.

Talk to an Online Psychotherapist for Help with Addiction

If you'd like to talk to an online therapist for help with an addiction, whether that's a problem with alcohol or other form of substance abuse, or any other form of addiction, then do please go to my website and learn more about how online mindfulness therapy can help you overcome an addiction.

This service is available worldwide. All you need is a good internet connection and the latest download of Skype and also PayPal to make online payments after each session and you're ready to starts.

Online therapy and especially the mindfulness approach that I teach is very effective indeed for helping you manage your emotions - the underlying emotions that cause your addiction. So addiction is almost always fuelled by underlying core emotions. That might be depression, it may be guilt or shame or stress or a feeling of helplessness. Whatever it is, there is usually an underlying emotion that is fueling the compulsive impulses that fuel the addiction.

So a very important part of mindfulness therapy is learning how to change the way that we relate to these emotions so that we can help them heal, so that we can help the underlying depression or whatever it might be here to heal. And this we do by actually focusing mindfulness on those emotions. We learn to meditate on our emotions, to build a friendly and conscious relationship with that part of ourselves that is in pain. This is, I would say, an absolute requirement for healing. If you really want to heal the underlying cause of your addiction you must establish this kind of quality of relationship with your underlying core emotions that are fueling the addiction. So that's a big part of the mindfulness approach to healing addiction.

Another part is actually learning to become more mindful of your relationship to the alcohol or other substance itself. So this is where we actually learn how to drink mindfully the way you will essentially mindfully meditate on, for example, a drink of whiskey or whatever you put in front of you. It could be food as well. Many people develop an addiction towards foods also based in the same way on an underlying core emotion of need.

So we learn to meditate on those impulsive impulses as well as the underlying core emotions. And this is what makes the mindfulness approach to addiction recovery so powerful. So if you would like to learn more unto you'd like to schedule a therapy session via Skype with me to work on your addiction, do please contact me through my website and then we can schedule a Skype Therapy session and get started on recovery.

Most people see quite dramatic changes after three or four sessions of mindfulness therapy. And this is because it is so direct and so practical and so focused on the underlying issues that are causing your addiction. So please contact me and I look forward to helping you overcome your addiction. Thank you.

Welcome! I provide Skype Therapy as a way of helping you work through anxiety and depression or any other emotional problem. Being able to chat to a therapist online can be very effective indeed and online chat therapy is now quite common in many countries, especially Australia and it is becoming more common in the US as well, where it may be difficult to find a local therapist to work with.

Also, a lot of people are becoming much more choosy these days in the particular type of psychotherapy that they wish to use. For example, there has been a great movement in cognitive-behavioral therapy and there is a shortage of good CBT therapists around, so the online CBT option has become very popular indeed, and there has been quite a bit of research showing that it is just as effective as therapy in-person.

Another style of psychotherapy that has gained a lot of interest recently is mindfulness-based therapy, and this is my specialty. I have developed a system of Mindfulness Therapy that works extremely well online for treating anxiety and depression and many other common emotional problems that don't require medical treatment.
