Skype Counseling Sessions - Psychotherapy over Skype for Anxiety & Depression

My name is Peter Strong and I am a professional internet psychotherapist. I specialize in Online Mindfulness-based Therapy for the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression and help with addictions, which I offer over Skype.

Now, therapy and counseling over Skype is becoming very popular for many reasons. Convenience is certainly one of those reasons, but another reason is, of course, because of the condition itself - anxiety or depression.

People experiencing anxiety or depression often find it very difficult to go to a therapist in-person because they are embarrassed. There is a lot of mistaken stigma around psychological-emotional problems that stops people seeking help. This is something I am trying to change through this online Skype service.

The online therapy option is a very attractive alternative for the treatment of anxiety disorders such as agoraphobia and social anxiety disorder where the challenge of seeking in-person help becomes very difficult.

Whatever the style of therapy that you prefer, you need to change the underlying structure of the anxiety or depression itself.

Traditional Talk Therapy can be helpful, but often it does not look at the underlying structure, the underlying process that creates your depression or anxiety.

The same can be said for medications - the antidepressant may relieve symptoms for awhile, but medications are not going to change the underlying psychological process that produces the anxiety or depression.

So, it is important to seek what we can call a process-centered therapy that focuses on changing the underlying process that creates the anxiety or depression. CBT is an example of a process-oriented therapy.

Mindfulness Therapy, which is a system of work that I developed in the 1980's incorporates CBT techniques with the addition of mindfulness, and this is another extremely popular process-oriented therapy for the treatment of emotional suffering caused by habitual reactive thinking.

Therapy over Skype - Skype Therapy Service

If you wish to talk to a psychotherapist online over Skype go to my online therapy website to learn about Online Counseling via Skype for controlling anxiety and depression, help with addiction recovery, OCD, PTSD, Psychological Trauma and other varieties of emotional suffering not requiring medical treatment.

Traditional counseling can be beneficial, but often it does not transform the underlying structure that is the real cause of your anxiety and depression.

This also applies to the use of medications - the prescription medications may reduce symptoms for awhile, but medications are not able to change the underlying psychological process that generates your emotional suffering.

The kind of psychotherapy I provide over Skype is known as Mindfulness Therapy, which can be quite effective for eliminating chronic anxiety as well as for treating chronic depression and other psychological problems where there exists an inherent habit of negative thinking.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong and I provide therapy over Skype for help with overcoming anxiety and depression and other emotional problems using Mindfulness Therapy, which is what I specialize in and that I have found, over the years, to be the most effective current treatment for persistent anxiety and chronic depression, as well.

If you want to learn more about therapy over Skype, simply go to my website and read the pages there and watch the videos posted on the website, and, of course, email me with any questions you may have. I will be happy to discuss with you how therapy over Skype using mindfulness can help you with your specific needs.

From my experience with Mindfulness Therapy, most people can expect to see significant changes after the first two or three sessions of therapy through Skype.

It is really focused on helping you learn different ways of relating to your emotions. This, I believe is the most essential feature of any successful psychotherapy. It is not so much talking about your emotions that makes the difference; it's the quality of the relationship that you build with your emotions that makes the difference.

If the relationship with your emotions is based on avoidance and resistance and suppression, then the anxiety or depression will not heal; it will remain in place and will repeat and come back over and over again.

But, if your relationship with your emotions is based on openness of mind (that is consciousness, conscious awareness) and openness of heart (that is a quality of friendliness and compassion) towards your own anxiety or depression or negative thoughts or negative beliefs or whatever is the cause of your emotional suffering.

This is what really makes the difference. When you make friends with your internal painful emotions then that creates the right conditions in which those emotions will heal, and this will lead to a reduction in the level of anxiety or depression, or any other form of emotional suffering.

Mindfulness Therapy teaches you how to do this, how to change your relationship with your emotions and how to accelerate the process of healing.

The mind needs to learn new pathways for resolving anxiety and depression rather than the old pathways that simply feed or accelerate anxiety and depression. You are essentially learning how to create new perceptual pathways in the brain that will lead to the resolution of emotional suffering.

This becomes automatic after training and the emotions effectively learn how to resolve themselves if they get activated. The resulting effect is that the level of anxiety or depression decreases significantly, such that you can say, "I no longer feel that anxiety or depression that I used to feel before Mindfulness Therapy."

So, if you would like to learn more, go to my website and email me. We can schedule a Skype therapy session so you can see for yourself just how effective this mindfulness approach is for resolving anxiety and depression.

Mindfulness-based Psychotherapy for Healing Emotional Suffering without relying on Prescription medications

Conventional talking therapy may be helpful, but often just talking about your feelings does not help you recover from the reactive psychological habits that is the real cause of your anxiety and depression.

The same can be said for medications - prescription medications may provide reduce anxiety and depression symptoms for a while, but medications are not effective for healing the underlying psychological habits that cause your anxiety or depression.

The school of therapy that I find most effective is called Mindfulness Therapy, which can be remarkably powerful for controlling all forms of anxiety, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Phobias and Panic Attacks as well as for treating non-clinical depression or other common psychological difficulties caused by conditioned reactive thinking.

Most of the people that I work with see very real changes after 3-4 weeks of Online Therapy with me.

Welcome. If you're looking for therapy over Skype for anxiety or depression or addiction or any other emotional problem, please go to my website and learn more about this online therapy service that I offer.

All my therapy sessions are done via Skype. I do this because most people actually prefer online therapy rather than meeting in person. It's certainly a great deal more convenient for you and it also is generally a lot more comfortable and less intimidating than going to see a therapist in their office.

As long as you use Skype or similar video platform, there's really no difference in the effectiveness of psychotherapy delivered online via Skype when compared to psychotherapy in person. You have to be able to see each other. That's really the main factor here. And of course, Skype makes that possible. If you can see each other, then the communication is really no different than being in the same room together.

So convenience and the comfort of being able to have your sessions at home are major factors. But also people want more choice. They want more variety than may be available in their local area. Most of my clients have a particular interest in Mindfulness Therapy, which is what I specialize in and have developed over the years. I have developed a way of working with anxiety and depression and other psychological emotional problems using mindfulness, which is very, very effective indeed.

The mindfulness approach is one that gives you the tools, the methods that you can use yourself to work on healing your anxiety or depression. That's really important. I really prefer that approach than a treatment-based approach because a treatment approach such as medications doesn't really give you any new learning or insights or ways of working with your emotions. Even conventional talk therapy or counseling often really doesn't teach you much, and seldom does it get to the root cause of your emotional suffering.
