Mindfulness-based Skype/Zoom Counseling

Traditional counseling can be beneficial, but often common talk therapy does not transform the underlying structure that creates your depression or anxiety.

This also applies to the use of medications - anti-anxiety medication may reduce symptoms for a while, but medications are not able to heal the underlying psychological process that produces your emotional pain.

The school of psychotherapy that I teach online is called Mindfulness Therapy, which is very successful for managing chronic anxiety as well as for treating chronic depression and other psychological issues caused by conditioned reactive thinking.

Most people see quite substantial changes after 3-4 sessions of Mindfulness Therapy.

Online counseling therapy provides an extremely good way to get help for anxiety and depression or for help recovering from an addiction. Whatever the nature of the emotional problem that you are struggling with, you will benefit from the mindfulness-based techniques and approaches that I teach. Email me to book a session.

Online Mindfulness-based Counseling & Psychotherapy for Overcoming Anxiety and Depression

My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist and I offer online counseling therapy online via Skype and Zoom for the treatment of anxiety and depression and addiction and other common emotional problems that benefit from the approach of mindfulness therapy, which is what I offer during these online therapy sessions.

So Skype/Zoom counseling therapy is a good option if you find it difficult to leave your house. So of course, I work a lot with the agoraphobia and other anxiety disorders. It's also a good choice if you are living in a remote area or where there are no local therapists available.

It's also good choice if you prefer the greater privacy of having your sessions online where you don't want to meet a local therapist. I also work a lot with people living abroad as well who are looking for some help with anxiety or depression or other forms of emotional stress.

The main thing when you're seeking any form of online therapy is that you use Skype or a similar video platform so you can see each other. If you can see each other then Skype therapy is just as effective as meeting in person. You certainly don't need to be physically present to receive good quality psychotherapy, but you do need to see each other because that allows a much better quality communication. So that's why I recommend using Skype.

The style of psychotherapy that I offer online over Skype is called mindfulness therapy. This is a very effective way of working with the mind. Mindfulness describes a state of conscious awareness where we are able to be present consciously with the mind, with thoughts, with emotions, with memories, with trauma, without becoming reactive, without pushing painful emotions away, without grasping onto pleasant emotions, without avoiding emotional pain and without becoming overwhelmed by emotional pain either.

The goal of mindfulness therapy, which is a system of work that I have developed over the years, is to change the way that you relate to your emotions and particularly to emotional suffering. It's very important that you learn how to develop a conscious relationship that's open and non-reactive. This is essential to allow healing to occur. The reactivity to painful emotions is what creates suffering and is what prevents healing.

Online Mindfulness-based Skype Counseling for Controlling Anxiety and Depression

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist based in Boulder Colorado, but I offer Skype/Zoom counseling therapy worldwide to anyone who is interested in online mindfulness therapy for the treatment of anxiety and depression without the use of antidepressant medications or anti-anxiety medications.

There are better alternatives available than medications for treating anxiety and depression. Medications have the place but it's important to understand that they only control symptoms; they don't address the underlying cause of your anxiety and depression.

So the underlying cause that we need to control and change is basically psychological reactive habits that feed the emotional state of anxiety or depression. Learning how to control these habits is absolutely central and that's the primary focus of mindfulness therapy.

So we look at the structure of our emotions. We look at the structure primarily rather than the narrative or the stories we tell ourselves. That's part of the structure but it's not the cause of our anxiety or depression. And this is one of the themes of mindfulness therapy, as I teach it, is that our emotions precede thoughts, beliefs and narratives. Not the other way around.

So thoughts do not cause anxiety or depression but they will certainly feed anxiety or depression that's already there. But it is the case that anxiety or depression will cause anxiety-based thoughts or depression based thoughts. So the emotion precedes the cognitive structures of thoughts, beliefs, narratives and even memories too.

So the anxiety and depression need to be addressed directly not by trying to change the narrative or change the belief structure or change the thoughts themselves because they are simply the product of the emotion.

So we work with the emotion directly whether that's anxiety or depression or panic attacks or the compulsive emotions behind OCD or intrusive thoughts or the compulsive impulses behind an addiction. Whatever the emotion is that's what we must address. And we do that in mindfulness therapy by learning how to meditate on our emotions. This is the primary characteristic of mindfulness therapy or mindfulness meditation therapy as I used to call it several years ago.

Basically, we learn how to meditate on our emotions and this is the first way that we can break out of that reactive habit of feeding the emotions through reactive thinking and reactive behaviors. But there's more to changing an emotion than just freeing ourselves from the reactive habits that feeds the emotion.

We have to change the emotion directly and the primary way we do that is by looking at the imagery of the emotion. We look at changing the imagery of anxiety or the imagery of depression.

If you would like to learn more about Skype counseling therapy and the advantages of online therapy in general please go to my website. I use Skype so that we can see each other. This is very important for good communication and effective psychotherapy. So that's why we use Skype, but we could also use Face Time or other video systems.

All you need for Online Therapy is a good Internet connection and then we can schedule a Skype/Zoom Therapy session at a time that works for you. As I say, Online Therapy is available worldwide. We just have to find the right time and all those details are on my website. So if you're interested in learning more about scope counseling therapy and the mindfulness approach to controlling anxiety and depression without using medications, then please go to my website and e-mail me and let's schedule a session.

Generally, most people see significant improvements within the first three to four sessions of Skype/Zoom Therapy. What I try to do is teach you mindfulness-based methods of working with your emotions, and you will learn how to practice and apply these mindfulness techniques yourself between sessions. So if you'd like to get started with me to help you manage anxiety or depression, whatever form that takes, then please contact me.
