My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist and I offer Skype counseling therapy online via Skype for the treatment of anxiety and depression and addiction and other common emotional problems that benefit from the approach of mindfulness therapy, which is what I offer during these online therapy sessions. 


So Skype counseling therapy is a good option if you find it difficult to leave your house. So of course, I work a lot with the agoraphobia and other anxiety disorders. It's also a good choice if you are living in a remote area or where there are no local therapists available. It's also good choice if you prefer the greater privacy of having your sessions online where you don't want to meet a local therapist. The goal of mindfulness therapy, which is a system of work that I have developed over the years, is to change the way that you relate to your emotions and particularly to emotional suffering. It's very important that you learn how to develop a conscious relationship that's open and non-reactive. This is essential to allow healing to occur. The reactivity to painful emotions is what creates suffering and is what prevents healing.

The Skype counseling therapy approach works extremely well online. As I say, Mindfulness Therapy is by far the best approach available for working with anxiety and depression, and I have also had very good success with addictions and also with the treatment of OCD.


This is because all of these emotional problems are based on chronic underlying psychological emotional habits that tend to operate out of awareness like any habit, and they tend to get triggered and then we become captured by that habit. So, for example, anxiety is primarily a habit. Anxiety can be triggered by a thought or a memory or something that someone says to you, or other event. It triggers an internal psychological habit that then creates the emotion.


Working with these habits is the main focus of Mindfulness Therapy. You will learn very practical and very focused methods of working with your emotions using mindfulness during the therapy sessions and also you will be able to practice these methods by yourself between the therapy sessions.


Most people using this very focused approach will see a significant reduction in anxiety or depression within 3-4 sessions. We spend much more time working on changing that underlying habit than simply talking about your family history or the reasons that may have caused you to become anxious or depressed in the first place. The history of your emotional suffering is useful, of course, but it is not going to change that emotional habit. You have to focus on that directly, which is what we do in Mindfulness Therapy.
