Skype Therapy Now - Talk to a Therapist Over Skype

The primary focus of Mindfulness Therapy is to treat the root psychological cause of your anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, stress, PTSD and emotional trauma and other forms of emotional suffering rather than just trying to manage symptoms through medication.

Mindfulness Therapy is a form of Buddhist Psychotherapy based on the teachings of Buddhist Psychology, which focuses on teaching you how to change the relationship that you have with your mind, your thoughts, beliefs, memories, and especially your emotions. The primary goal is to cultivate freedom in relationship to your mind instead of trying to control and "fix" the mind.

Mindfulness is a special form of consciousness, characterized by direct awareness and non-reactivity (equanimity, upekkha), love (metta), compassion (karuna) and joy (mudita). Mindfulness Therapy focuses on applying these qualities to promote healing of emotional suffering (dukha) and to enhance wellbeing and happiness within and without, in your mind and in your personal and societal relationships.

Everyone can benefit from developing greater kindness and compassion toward the mind and the inner emotional pain that causes suffering. When that inner relationship is right, then it purifies our outer relationships, too. Happiness within = happiness without.

I offer Mindfulness Therapy online via Skype or Zoom to make these extraordinary teachings available to anyone, anywhere.

Almost everyone who seeks my help has already tried standard "talk therapy". This may be excellent for treating acute emotional problems, but most people tell me that it is seldom sufficient to overcome chronic anxiety or depression. Most of my clients have tried prescription medications and are looking for an alternative approach, a more holistic approach that focuses on healing rather than just trying to reduce symptoms.

Mindfulness Therapy (Skype Therapy) focuses on teaching you how to work with your mind, giving you practical tools that you can apply yourself to promote healing and wellbeing. In this way it is quite different from the treatment-based approaches of clinical psychotherapy.

Everyone I have worked with really likes the Mindfulness Therapy approach that I teach for healing emotional suffering…

"Working with Peter and developing mindfulness has been instrumental in helping me break from my habitual mental suffering. His form of therapy is effective for many reasons, but primarily I think it's because Peter works with you to help you discover the truth of your suffering for yourself, rather than judging you or telling you - his presence is always calm and kind, and provides a great atmosphere for healing.”

VISIT MY CONTACT PAGE TO SCHEDULE ONLINE THERAPY WITH ME

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional online psychotherapist. I've been offering psychotherapy through Skype for over ten years now. And I do this because most people really enjoy Skype Therapy. They find this to be a much better experience than going to see a therapist in their office. It Is much less intimidating. It's much more convenient for you and also more comfortable for you since you can conduct your therapy sessions from your own home or familiar surroundings that you feel comfortable in. And that's really important.

So good psychotherapy, whether it's in person or online, needs to enable you. It needs to teach you strategies and ways of working with the mind. It needs to teach you how to work with difficult emotions, whether that's anxiety or depression or OCD or an addiction or grief or other difficult emotional problems, using methods that you can apply yourself. This is the important thing: that you learn how to work with your emotions yourself and good psychotherapy will teach you how to do this.

You do not need to see a therapist in person to receive good psychotherapy. You simply need to have access to someone who understands how to teach practical ways of working with the mind. So as long as you can see each other, then online therapy is, in my opinion, just as good as meeting in person, and may also be actually better because you, as the client, feel more comfortable and at ease with the process.

The style of therapy that I teach over Skype is called Mindfulness Therapy. And that works very well for anxiety and depression, particularly, and it will teach you those practical skills that I've been talking about that you can apply yourself between sessions to really change the way that you feel, to overcome anxiety and depression and to get back to a state of wellbeing and emotional resilience and the ability to meet life without emotional suffering.

Emotional suffering is not the natural state of things. It's a product of habitual learned conditioned reactivity to life. Life may produce lots of ups and downs. pain and pleasure and so on, but that is not the same thing as emotional suffering. So emotional pain is something that we encounter and usually resolves quite quickly. Emotional suffering does not resolve quickly it persists and it persists through a process of habitual reactivity. It's a habit. That habit is what causes it to persist.

We learn how to break these habits by actually meditating on the emotions directly. So emotional habits thrive because of unawareness. We simply are not aware of the reactive process that's going on in the mind. The stimulus simply activates the habits that creates the emotional suffering.

But once we start to bring more conscious awareness to our emotional habits we can begin to change those habits. Consciousness allows us to break free from our habits. That's the first part of Mindfulness training, is learning to bring more consciousness to our emotional suffering so we can break these emotional habits. And we do that as I say by actively meditating on the emotions.

That is the way to do it. Not trying to escape our emotional pain or just talking about them endlessly or indulging in the emotional suffering. That's another habit and it doesn't resolve the suffering. We need to change our relationship, we need to break this habit of reactive identification so that we don't fall victim to the emotional habits.

So that's a very important part of mindfulness training. The other part that I'll explain to you and teach you during our sessions, is how to facilitate the healing of emotional suffering. So this is the compassionate aspect of mindfulness that's so important. And the combination of developing more consciousness and developing more compassion towards your own inner emotional suffering is what really produces the changes, and changes that last.

So if you'd like to learn more about this approach than simply email me and we can schedule a session and you'll see, even after the first session, just how powerful the mindfulness therapy approach can be for overcoming anxiety, depression and other forms of emotional suffering. So please reach out to me by email and let's schedule a session. Thank you.

Online Mindfulness Therapist through Skype for Managing Depression without using medications

See a Psychotherapist Online over Skype for highly effective online treatment for Depression and Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety and Agoraphobia, Addictions, and other forms of emotional stress, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

To overcome depression you must develop a conscious and mindful relationship with your emotional pain, whatever form that takes. The most common problem that prevents recovery from depression is automatic and habitual reactive thinking and rumination, where we become lost in negative thinking and negative beliefs. This reactivity feeds depression and prevents depression from healing. The more we can break free from reactive thinking the faster we will recover.

The main factor that supports reactive thinking is the lack of conscious awareness. We become controlled by the habitual thoughts that we do not see. Mindfulness Therapy provides an extremely effective way to restore consciousness allowing us to regain freedom and choice in relation to our thoughts making them less reactive. Thoughts themselves are not the problem, it is the lack of consciousness that is the real problem. Re-establishing a conscious relationship with our thoughts and emotional reactions is the most important step in the recovery from depression and most other forms of emotional suffering.

Antidepressants may have a limited value in the short-term management of symptoms of depression, but medications are not a substitute for the psychological work of re-establishing inner conscious awareness. This is the primary focus of Mindfulness Therapy, and it is very effective for most people.

Online Mindfulness Therapy, available via Skype, offers a very effective way to manage and to overcome chronic depression by teaching you how to manage rumination and reactive thinking which feed depression as well as teaching you how to develop a non-reactive and compassionate relationship with the underlying emotions such as fear, feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, emotional trauma, profound loss, guilt and shame and overwhelming emotional stress. These core emotions need to heal inorder to fully recover from chronic depression and Mindfulness Therapy provides an extremely good approach for doing just this.

Online Therapy for OCD via Skype

So the way to break free from those patterns of emotional reactivity that cause our anxiety and that fuel our obsessions is to learn how to form a mindfulness-based relationship with them and to train with those those thoughts and the anxiety. We train ourself to sit with them without becoming reactive.

When you can sit with your emotions and thoughts without allowing them to proliferating further, then you are taking away the fuel source that feeds the underlying anxiety that fuels those intrusive thoughts. So learning to sit with your emotions and thoughts is the heart of the Mindfulness Meditation Therapy approach that I teach for overcoming OCD.

This approach is very effective and it's very effective because it's very direct. It is about working directly with your emotions. Just talking about your emotions is seldom enough to change the underlying reactivity that feeds your anxiety. You have to change your relationship to that reactivity directly so that you do not become blindly identified with it, blindly caught up in the reactive thinking or in the emotion itself.

The more you can develop this quality of objective consciousness where you can maintain your identity as your True Self, the Observer, looking at your emotions and thoughts as objects in the mind the freer you become and the faster the recovery.

With training you see the thoughts and the anxiety as simply objects in the mind that you can observe and respond to with compassion. That's the power of this teaching - it frees you, it liberates you from emotional suffering by allowing you to strengthen your perspective as your True Self.

Connection with that True Self is exactly what the anxiety needs in order to heal itself. So your True Self is fearless by nature because it is non-reactive.

The anxiety is completely fear-based. In order to resolve fear, it needs to come into contact with that which is fearless and that is your True Self. So this is what we cultivate by meditating on our thoughts and the emotions that fuel those thoughts, which is generally fear.

So do please contact me if you'd like to learn more about this approach. And if you're interested in online help for overcoming your obsessive compulsive disorder, or if you would like help with working with intrusive thoughts and images, including traumatic memory images, which are often at the heart of OCD.

So please contact me if you would like help in overcoming OCD, and also ask any questions you may have about online psychotherapy for obsessive compulsive disorder.

ONLINE THERAPIST FOR POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)

PTSD is a complex disorder involving many different emotions such as anxiety, depression, guilt and shame, anger and addictions.

Fundamentally, victims of PTSD have a very hard time adjusting to intensely traumatic experiences. A trauma is simply a form of sensory-emotional overload that the brain is unable to process and assimilate. The intense memory imprint and associated emotions become "stuck", literally frozen in time, creating flash-backs and endlessly recurring intrusive thoughts and emotional reactions.

There are many sources of PTSD. Experience of war is well documented, but trauma is also an occupational hazard for emergency responders, fire officers, police officers and medical response personnel. Medical Doctors can also experience PTSD as they try to cope with the trauma of dispensing a terminal diagnosis to a patient.

One unrecognized source of PTSD is from the very process of giving birth itself. Again, the intense sensory overload accompanied by very intense emotions can create a traumatic image that does not resolve by itself.

The other biggest source of PTSD results from childhood trauma, at the hands of abusive parents or relatives or from bullying. The child, by its very nature, is least able to process intense sensory/emotional experiences, and these can become suppressed as unresolved core emotions that arise much later, during adult life as anxiety, panic attacks, uncontrollable anger and depression.

Whatever the cause of PTSD, these unresolved core emotions need resolution and this is the whole focus of Mindfulness Therapy which I provide via Skype. This is often a good choice for people who might not feel comfortable sharing their experiences in front of a group or even to a therapist in-person.

Stress is a conditioned habit. We learn to react to situations, people, thoughts, memories, beliefs and expectations emotionally by becoming irritated, angry or upset. We believe that stress is an inevitable consequence of the challenges of life, that its cause is external. But this is erroneous, it is a delusion. We create stress through our blind conditioned reactivity. Stress is a learned reaction, which means it can be un-learned.

There is absolutely no law that says that you have to react with stress, irritation or anger. Stress is JUST A HABIT – and HABITS CAN BE CHANGED!

Old style talk therapy can be helpful, but often it does not alter the the underlying process that is the real cause of your emotional stress, depression or anxiety.

The same can be said for medications - drugs may provide a temporary relief from symptoms for a while, but medications are not able to heal the underlying cause that generates your emotional suffering and stress. That underlying process is psychological in nature and requires a psychological approach to bring about significant change.

The kind of psychotherapy that I provide is called Mindfulness Therapy, which can be noticeably successful for handling emotional stress, including all forms of anxiety as well as for treating depression or other emotional difficulties caused by conditioned negative thinking. Most of my clients report measurable reduction in the level of anxiety and depression after the first few sessions of psychotherapy via Skype.

The many techniques offered during online sessions of Mindfulness Therapy will teach you exactly how to undo the "stress habit", allowing you to find more balance and happiness in your life.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong and I am a professional mindfulness-based psychotherapist living in Boulder, Colorado, and I offer therapy through Skype world-wide, wherever you may be, as long as you have an internet connection and Skype, then we can arrange Skype therapy sessions.

Therapy with Skype is a lot more effective than the more traditional forms of telephone counseling or email therapy, which have been around a long time. Being able to see each other through the video function of Skype means that the quality of communication will be a lot better, and this will improve the quality of psychotherapy.

In fact, if you do therapy with Skype, it is really no different than meeting with a therapist in an office; it is really the same quality of communication is possible. But, of course, it has the tremendous advantage that you can conduct your therapy sessions from home or even from work, whatever is most convenient for you.

Many people don't have access to psychotherapists in their area, either because they are living in a rural area, or perhaps living abroad, or perhaps you would rather maintain some anonymity and don't wish to be seen going to a therapist in your local area.

This is understandable, because it is difficult for most people to manage anxiety, depression or addiction or other emotional problems. It is very personal and it makes it a lot easier if you can maintain that privacy which is offered by therapy with Skype.

If you would like to learn more about arranging therapy through Skype, do please contact me through my website and we can schedule a trial Skype therapy session.

I think you will find it very effective and a lot easier and more satisfactory than the more traditional medical, clinical approach to psychotherapy. I believe that psychotherapy should be very much more accessible and friendly and really focusing on teaching you skills to work with difficult emotions like anxiety and depression.

Much more so than taking a medical model. I don't actually believe that psychotherapy should be classified as a treatment, rather it should be looked at more as an educational medium to help teach you new ways of working with difficult emotions. That is from my experience.

So, if you would like to learn more about therapy with Skype and schedule a Skype therapy session with me, then please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong and I am a professional online therapist and I offer Skype therapy to help you manage difficult emotional problems, whether that is anxiety or depression or addiction or OCD or if there is a problem with an emotional trauma. Whatever you are suffering from, you can get help through Skype therapy, especially the style of therapy that I offer, which is called Mindfulness Therapy and which teaches you very practical ways of working with your emotions so that you get some degree of freedom from the reactivity towards those emotions.

This is perhaps the most important thing that you learn during Skype therapy is how to form a stable and non-reactive relationship with your anxiety or depression or with your thoughts or other painful memories that you are struggling with.

The most important thing is to be able to hold these in your conscious awareness without reacting to them. When you react to thoughts or emotions you effectively feed those thoughts or emotions; you make them stronger. And, when you feed them then they are not able to diminish and resolve in a natural way like all experiences will do. This phenomenon known as auto-resolution becomes possible only if we stop feeding our emotions with reactive thinking and reactive behaviors.

So this is part of the training in mindfulness therapy that I provide in these Skype therapy sessions.

If you would like to learn more about Skype therapy and about the mindfulness-based psychotherapy approach then please go to my website, and email me to schedule a Skype therapy session. Thank you.

Skype Therapy with a Therapist Online

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist specializing in Mindfulness Therapy and I offer online Skype Therapy for the treatment of anxiety and online Skype Therapy for help with depression and many other common psychological problems that do not require medication.

Most of my clients have tried medications for their anxiety or depression or OCD or other emotional problems without much success. And there's a reason for this, because medications do nothing to change the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression. The underlying cause is primarily psychological in nature.

Even if there is a chemical imbalance in the body, that chemical imbalance is nothing more than a trigger that triggers the psychological reaction. If there is any underlying biochemical or physiological problems then you should consult with your doctor, but generally this is quite rare and most of my clients come to me after trying medication and they simply want something better, that actually addresses the problem rather than just covering up the symptoms. And that's what I offer during online Skype Therapy.

I teach mindfulness-based methods for working with emotional suffering such as anxiety or depression or intrusive thoughts or addictions or many other difficult psychological problems that we all face at one time or another.

It's really learning how to work with these emotional habits and how to start developing a conscious and mindful relationship with your emotions and with your thoughts and also with your memories, including traumatic memories, too. I offer online Skype Therapy for PTSD as well as anxiety and depression.

The most important thing is building a conscious and mindful relationship with your mind. Most of the time we don't do that you simply run away from our emotional pain or we react by becoming identified with our emotional pain, which simply feeds it, or we react with aversion to our emotional pain, which also prevents it healing.

The only way that the psychological habit that creates anxiety or depression can heal is when we create a friendly and conscious relationship with our emotions and thoughts. And this is the principle focus of Mindfulness Therapy, and I will teach you how to apply mindfulness for working with your emotions.

This approach is very effective, in deed. And I've been teaching Mindfulness Therapy for over ten years now and the number of people who have benefited from this approach is quite surprising and very satisfying for me.

Because once you learn how to apply mindfulness you become able to manage your emotions much more effectively than you could ever learn by a treatment-based approach, like medications.

So, if you'd like to learn more about online Skype Therapy and you'd like to schedule Skype Therapy sessions with me, then please go to my website, learn more about this approach, and then of course e-mail me if you have any questions.

If you would like to start online Skype Therapy with me, then please contact me and let's schedule a therapy session via Skype, and you'll see yourself within the first two to three sessions, just how effective it is when you start to change the way that you relate to your emotions using mindfulness. Thank you.

Therapy through Skype - Skype Therapy Service

Does Skype Therapy work?

Skype therapy is certainly as good as conventional in-person psychotherapy or counseling and may even be better in some cases. Certainly, it is an excellent choice if you can't leave home for one reason or another or if you suffer from agoraphobia or are limited by a driving phobia (both of which I treat online).

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong and I'm a professional online therapist offering therapy via Skype.

So I'm often asked "Does Skype Therapy work?" "Is Skype Therapy as effective as conventional therapy in a therapist's office?" "Is therapy over Skype as good as psychotherapy in person?".

And the answer is it most certainly is. What's much more important is not whether the psychotherapy is delivered in person or online, but the style of psychotherapy and the competence of the therapist who is offering that particular style of therapy.

So there's a vast range of approaches to psychotherapy and some are very much more effective than others. For most common psychological problems like anxiety or depression, generally I recommend what I call process-oriented therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT, and also Mindfulness Therapy or Mindfulness Meditation Therapy, which is related in some ways to CBT, but with a greater emphasis on working with emotions and the underlying structure of your experience, how you actually produce anxiety and depression, how it has triggered in the mind, how that works.

So really that's the most important thing. It's really important that you use some form of video format like Skype or FaceTime so you can see each other, as well. If you can see each other as well as speak to each other in real time, then Skype Therapy becomes just as effective as in person therapy. And from my experience over the years Skype Therapy definitely has advantages. One of which is it's more convenient and more comfortable for you, the client.

It helps you feel more in charge of the process. You feel more empowered because you are conducting the therapy session from your own home or place of work on your terms, rather than going to a clinic or therapist's office for some kind of treatment. That tends to actually increase the sense of being helpless, being a victim. And we certainly don't want that. All psychotherapy should focus on enabling you and making you feel more empowered, more in charge of your emotional well-being. So that's one advantage of Skype Therapy. It tends to do that. And that's one of the reasons why I specialize in Skype Therapy.

I see more more clients that way than in person these days. So if you'd like to learn more about Skype Therapy and its effectiveness I recommend that you do a simple Google search for "the effectiveness of Skype Therapy or online therapy" and read the articles that have been published. There's quite a lot of research out there now showing the equal effectiveness of online therapy, especially when you are using a process-oriented form of psychotherapy like CBT or Mindfulness Therapy.

But please contact me if you have any questions so we can assess whether Skype Therapy will be effective for your particular needs. It's certainly very effective for anxiety and depression and things like OCD and also for working with addictions. That's another area where online therapy can become very, very useful, in the treatment of addictions, because many people are quite ashamed of their addiction. They don't want to join a group, they would rather work with some degree of privacy and that's offered by online therapy, of course.

So go to my website, learn more, do some research, and then if you want to schedule Skype Therapy with me, simply go to my Contact Page and email me and we can schedule a Skype Therapy session at a time that works for you.

I see people throughout North America, Western Europe, United Kingdom, Ireland, and as far away as Canada and Australia, and so on. All you need is a good internet connection and you can usually have no problem at all with with getting the appropriate level of quality of Skype to allow you to have Skype Therapy sessions.
