Online Mindfulness Therapy

Skype Therapy - Mindfulness Therapy via Skype

The primary focus of Mindfulness Therapy is to treat the root psychological cause of your anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, stress, PTSD and emotional trauma and other forms of psychological pain rather than just trying to manage symptoms through medication.

Almost everyone who seeks my help has already tried medication or conventional counseling and are definitely looking for an alternative approach, a more holistic approach that focuses on healing rather than just trying to reduce symptoms. We want to be FREE from anxiety and depression, not just endlessly try to manage symptoms.

Everyone that I have worked with really enjoys the Mindfulness Therapy approach that I teach for healing emotional suffering…

"I had three sessions with Peter (4 hours total) and am very glad I had a chance to do therapy with him. Even after one session, I already felt better about some of the trauma I have had since I was young. With him, I learned to dissolve the trauma and came to terms with what happened in the past. I very much appreciate Peter’s kindness, wisdom, and patience."

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong and I'm a professional mindfulness-based psychotherapist. I live in Boulder, Colorado USA and I offer Skype Therapy for the USA and Canada as well as abroad.

If you are interested in online therapy for the treatment of anxiety or depression or for the treatments of addiction or for help with OCD or any other emotional psychological problem that would benefit from talking to a psychotherapist online, then do please go to my website and learn more about this Skype Therapy Service that I provide and email me at your convenience to find out more about this service and to schedule a Skype Therapy session with me.

The mindfulness therapy approach that I teach on line works extremely well through Skype. Basically, what I will be doing is teaching you how to work with your emotions and with your thought patterns using mindfulness. I will be teaching you how to break free from this problem called Reactive Identification, where we become overwhelmed and consumed by thoughts and emotional reactions.

It's interesting to note that unlike CBT that considers that thoughts are the cause of our emotions in Mindfulness Therapy we understand it's actually the other way around. It's the emotions that create our thoughts and then when we identify with these thoughts and that identification simply causes the thoughts to feed the underlying emotion. So when we're working with the mind using mindfulness therapy we focus very much on the underlying anxiety or depression or compulsion or obsession, whatever it might be, that's causing the problem for you.

We work on the emotion itself because when you change that emotion, when you neutralize it, when you reduce its intensity, then you will find that the associated thoughts, the reactive thoughts, will fall away by themselves. You'll find that those negative self-beliefs begin to change by themselves because there is nothing fueling those thoughts and beliefs, so they become naturally replaced by new thoughts and new beliefs that are more positive.

We don't need to change our thoughts and beliefs, we need to change the emotion underneath that is fueling those thoughts. So this is one of the major themes in Skype Therapy using mindfulness.

If you would like to learn more about how to work with your mind, with your anxiety or depression or any other emotions using mindfulness, then please send me an email and we can schedule a Skype Therapy session at a time that works for you.

Most people really enjoy Skype Therapy, they find it to be a very positive way of learning skills to work with the mind and to overcome emotional suffering. And most of my clients see quotes as significant changes within the first three to four sessions.

It should not take that long to make big changes in your emotional well-being if you approach your spiritual and emotional growth in the right way, that is that you tackle the underlying problem and not just treat the symptoms. So, if you'd like to learn more, please go to my website and e-mail me. Thank you.

My name is Peter Strong and I am a professional therapist based in Boulder, Colorado, USA. I offer therapy online through Skype.

Have you ever considered speaking to a therapist online? Online Therapy a very good and very popular choice these days. Many people are choosing online therapy service as an alternative to a meeting with a therapist in an office. One reason is that it is considerably more convenient, of course, since you don't have to drive to the therapist's office. You don't have to take out the time to do that. You can call from home, or from your office, or wherever you are, even from your hotel room if you're traveling abroad. It's definitely preferable for most people.

With the advent of Skype it's now possible to talk to a therapist online and see him or her in real-time. It's really just the same as if you were in the office together. I've been providing online counseling for a number of years now. As far as I'm concerned there is no real difference between online or in-person therapy, especially if you're teaching some form of cognitive therapy or mindfulness therapy, as I teach, where the emphasis is on teaching skills for working with difficult emotions. This can be transmitted online through Skype just as well as it can face-to-face in the office.

Online Mindfulness Therapy via Skype for Managing Depression without relying on drugs

Speak with a Psychotherapist Online over Skype for highly effective online therapy for Depression and Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety Disorder and Agoraphobia, Addictions, and other psychological and emotional problems, including Post-traumatic stress.

To overcome depression you must develop a conscious and mindful relationship with your emotional pain, whatever form that takes. The main problem that prevents recovery from depression is automatic and habitual reactive thinking and rumination, where we become lost in negative thinking and negative beliefs. This reactivity feeds depression and prevents depression from healing. The more we can break free from reactive thinking the faster we will recover.

The main factor that supports reactive thinking is the lack of conscious awareness. We become controlled by the habitual thoughts that we do not see. Mindfulness Therapy provides an extremely effective way to restore consciousness allowing us to regain freedom and choice in relation to our thoughts making them less reactive. Thoughts themselves are not the problem, it is the lack of consciousness that is the real problem. Re-establishing a conscious relationship with our thoughts and emotional reactions is the most important step in the recovery from depression and most other forms of emotional suffering.

Antidepressants may have a limited value in the short-term management of symptoms of depression, but medications are not a substitute for the psychological work of re-establishing inner conscious awareness. This is the primary focus of Mindfulness Therapy, and it is very effective for most people.

Online Mindfulness Therapy, available via Skype, offers a very effective way to manage and to overcome chronic depression by teaching you how to manage rumination and reactive thinking which feed depression as well as teaching you how to develop a non-reactive and compassionate relationship with the underlying emotions such as fear, feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, emotional trauma, profound loss, guilt and shame and overwhelming emotional stress. These core emotions need to heal inorder to fully recover from chronic depression and Mindfulness Therapy provides an extremely good approach for doing just this.

OCD Therapy Online via Skype

Online Mindfulness Psychotherapist via Skype for Overcoming Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Intrusive Overthinking without using medications.

Welcome. So I provide online therapy for the treatment of OCD. If you're looking for an online therapist for OCD and you would like help in overcoming intrusive, obsessive thoughts using the techniques of mindfulness therapy which I teach online via Skype, then do please contact me.

Reach out to me through the Contact Page. Tell me more about yourself and ask any questions you may have about the online therapy program that I teach for overcoming OCD.

When you are selecting an online therapist to work with for an anxiety disorder like OCD it is very important that you use Skype so that you can see each other. If you can see each other, then that will improve the quality of communication substantially. It's not necessary to be in the same room as your therapist, but it is very important that you see each other. This will make the therapy sessions much more effective.

So during our online Skype Therapy sessions together, I'll be teaching you how to work with intrusive thoughts using the techniques of Mindfulness Therapy, and the central methodology that we use for breaking free from the influence of reactive intrusive thinking is to learn how to meditate on your reactive thoughts.

The worst thing you can do is fall into a habit of avoidance, trying to run away from your intrusive thoughts, trying to suppress them. That will simply feed those intrusive thoughts because any reaction based on avoidance is basically fear-based. It's a fear based reaction and that will add to the fear, which is the most common emotion that is fueling your intrusive thoughts. If you want to break free from an intrusive and obsessive thoughts, you need to heal and resolve the emotion that is fueling those thoughts.

Thoughts only become intrusive when they have a strong emotional charge. And that's what we have to neutralize. And that's what I will teach you during Mindfulness Therapy.

We learn to meditate on our intrusive thoughts. That means that we consciously bring them into awareness and then we train with them. The training is about learning how to stay with the thought without becoming reactive and without becoming overwhelmed by the fear that accompanies the intrusive thought. This takes training and mindfulness meditation, is training with the mind to resolve suffering and promote freedom.

So you meditate on the thought. This is how you can achieve freedom. You can not achieve freedom by avoidance. But you can achieve freedom from the influence of those thoughts if you meditate on them.

So you train to sit with the thoughts and not react. You then respond to the underlying emotion, which is usually fear, but it could be other emotions like guilt or shame or anger or trauma.

We learn to respond to these emotions with mindfulness, with full conscious presence, accompanied by compassion. Mindfulness is the combination of conscious awareness and compassion. They are both present in mindfulness. Compassion means interacting with that fear in a way that helps it resolve.

So you're training to resolve the fear that is the fuel for those intrusive thought. When that fear is resolved, then the thoughts will no longer be intrusive. They will essentially just disappear because they are no longer relevant. They will be naturally replaced by other thoughts that are more relevant and probably more positive, because they are not based on fear.

So what keeps intrusive thoughts in the mind is that underlying emotional charge, the fear itself. Heal the fear and the thoughts will subside.

So this is part of what I'll teach you during our Skype therapy sessions together. This approach of learning to meditate on your intrusive thoughts or obsessive thoughts is very, very powerful. And most people see very welcome improvements within a very short time, usually within three or four sessions.

I will teach you the methods of how to work with your intrusive thoughts and obsessive thoughts using mindfulness. You will take these methods and practice them at home between sessions. This is what makes all the difference in your recovery from OCD.

If you'd like to schedule online therapy with me for your obsessive compulsive disorder or intrusive thoughts, then please contact me so we can schedule a Skype Therapy session.

Online Therapy for Recovery from Traumatic Stress & PTSD

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist based in Boulder, Colorado and I offer online therapy via Skype for anxiety, for depression, for addictions, and also for working with trauma and PTSD. So if you're looking for an online therapist to help you overcome your trauma then please reach out to me and ask any questions you may have about online therapy and the approach that I use.

Feel free to schedule a session with me. The first session is a trial session where we determine if this is the right approach for you. If it is the right approach then we typically would meet once a week for a while, maybe three or four weeks. And during this time I will teach you how to work with your trauma, your emotional trauma, using the techniques of Mindfulness Therapy, which is what I specialize in.

So the mindfulness approach that I teach basically helps you process your emotional trauma or traumatic memories more effectively. It's a very focused strategic approach. It is quite different than conventional counseling or talk therapy. This is much more focused on the mechanism that produces trauma in the mind.

So the first part of Mindfulness Therapy is learning to develop a balanced and non-reactive relationship with the traumatic memory. This is essential. The biggest problem in the early stages of trauma recovery is that people become identified with the traumatic memory, with the emotions that are triggered by that memory, by reactive thoughts and beliefs that are triggered by those emotions.

And when we become identified with the trauma then that basically feeds the trauma and stops it from healing and recovering.

So that is the first part of mindfulness training and we do this by meditating on the trauma itself. We deliberately bring it into the mind and practice developing more and more freedom from those patterns of habitual reactivity that feed the trauma. So we learn to sit with the trauma developing more and more freedom. This is called developing "equanimity" and that's a major factor in mindfulness training. I will teach you how to do this.

The second very important property that we develop in Mindfulness Therapy is compassion. So that means developing a compassionate relationship with the traumatic emotions that the get triggered by the memory.

Again, the problem is usually that we try to avoid those emotions or we get into patterns of becoming identified with them again, overwhelmed by those emotions, or we try to avoid them through some form distraction or even through substance abuse. We try to get away from them. But this is the wrong approach. They will not heal if you do not develop a compassionate relationship as well as a non-reactive relationship with those emotions and memories.

The third part of recovery from trauma and any other intense emotions that are associated with that trauma is to change the imagery of the memory image and also the emotions.

So the traumatic memory has its particular memory imagery and that imagery has certain properties that make it difficult to heal, to recover from. So typically, if the memory imagery is very intense, then it is going to be very large in size. It's going to be very close, and it's going to be very detailed, in terms of color and content, it's going to be very sharp in detail.

So we work on changing that imagery, the memory imagery. We work on changing it.

We can also work with the imagery of the emotions themselves, whether it's fear or whether it's terror or anxiety or depression or grief. All of these emotions have their own imagery that sustains those emotions. So as well as developing a non-reactive relationship and a compassionate relationship with those emotions, we also investigate their imagery and we explore changing that imagery.

So when traumatic emotions heal they do so by changing their imagery. During Mindfulness Therapy and mindfulness meditation we speed up this natural process, by deliberately exploring how to change that imagery consciously and then finding what works. We call this Mindfulness-based Imagery Reprocessing.

So if you would like to start some sessions with me please contact me. Thank you.

Stress is a conditioned habit. We learn to react to situations, people, thoughts, memories, beliefs and expectations emotionally by becoming irritated, angry or upset. We believe that stress is an inevitable consequence of the challenges of life, that its cause is external. But this is erroneous, it is a delusion. We create stress through our blind conditioned reactivity. Stress is a learned reaction, which means it can be un-learned.

There is absolutely no law that says that you have to react with stress, irritation or anger. Stress is JUST A HABIT – and HABITS CAN BE CHANGED!

Old style talk therapy can be helpful, but often it does not alter the the underlying process that is the real cause of your emotional stress, depression or anxiety.

The same can be said for medications - drugs may provide a temporary relief from symptoms for a while, but medications are not able to heal the underlying cause that generates your emotional suffering and stress. That underlying process is psychological in nature and requires a psychological approach to bring about significant change.

The kind of psychotherapy that I provide is called Mindfulness Therapy, which can be noticeably successful for handling emotional stress, including all forms of anxiety as well as for treating depression or other emotional difficulties caused by conditioned negative thinking. Most of my clients report measurable reduction in the level of anxiety and depression after the first few sessions of psychotherapy via Skype.

Go to my website and email me to discover more about this online counseling service and to arrange for a therapy session with me.

The many techniques offered during online sessions of Mindfulness Therapy will teach you exactly how to undo the "stress habit", allowing you to find more balance and happiness in your life.

Everyone that I have worked with really enjoys the mindfulness approach that I teach for healing emotional suffering…

"Dr. Strong helped me through the most difficult time of my life. I wasn’t able to leave the house for over five months due to crippling anxiety. Dr. Strong was able to help me welcome my anxiety and take care of it in order to heal it. I had always thought anxiety was something to push away and fear, but through meditation and welcoming my anxiety, I learned I can truly enjoy experiences that would otherwise trigger anxiety. Everything else I have tried has not come close to the healing and happiness I have experienced through Dr. Strong’s sessions. He is very kind and honest and I couldn’t have healed my anxiety without him. Every day is different, but even after ending our sessions, his counseling has proved invaluable. Thank you Dr. Strong!"

Talk to an Online Psychotherapist for Help with Addiction

If you'd like to talk to an online therapist for help with an addiction, whether that's a problem with alcohol or other form of substance abuse, or any other form of addiction, then do please go to my website and learn more about how online mindfulness therapy can help you overcome an addiction.

This service is available worldwide. All you need is a good internet connection and the latest download of Skype and also PayPal to make online payments after each session and you're ready to starts.

Online therapy and especially the mindfulness approach that I teach is very effective indeed for helping you manage your emotions - the underlying emotions that cause your addiction. So addiction is almost always fuelled by underlying core emotions. That might be depression, it may be guilt or shame or stress or a feeling of helplessness. Whatever it is, there is usually an underlying emotion that is fueling the compulsive impulses that fuel the addiction.

So a very important part of mindfulness therapy is learning how to change the way that we relate to these emotions so that we can help them heal, so that we can help the underlying depression or whatever it might be here to heal. And this we do by actually focusing mindfulness on those emotions. We learn to meditate on our emotions, to build a friendly and conscious relationship with that part of ourselves that is in pain. This is, I would say, an absolute requirement for healing. If you really want to heal the underlying cause of your addiction you must establish this kind of quality of relationship with your underlying core emotions that are fueling the addiction. So that's a big part of the mindfulness approach to healing addiction.

Another part is actually learning to become more mindful of your relationship to the alcohol or other substance itself. So this is where we actually learn how to drink mindfully the way you will essentially mindfully meditate on, for example, a drink of whiskey or whatever you put in front of you. It could be food as well. Many people develop an addiction towards foods also based in the same way on an underlying core emotion of need.

So we learn to meditate on those impulsive impulses as well as the underlying core emotions. And this is what makes the mindfulness approach to addiction recovery so powerful. So if you would like to learn more unto you'd like to schedule a therapy session via Skype with me to work on your addiction, do please contact me through my website and then we can schedule a Skype Therapy session and get started on recovery.

Most people see quite dramatic changes after three or four sessions of mindfulness therapy. And this is because it is so direct and so practical and so focused on the underlying issues that are causing your addiction. So please contact me and I look forward to helping you overcome your addiction. Thank you.

This also applies to the use of medications - the drug may provide a temporary relief from symptoms for awhile, but medications will not heal the underlying cause that produces your emotional suffering.

The style of psychotherapy that I provide is known as Mindfulness Therapy, which is very powerful for controlling chronic anxiety as well as for treating chronic depression and other mental difficulties where there exists an inherent process of conditioned reactive thinking.

Looking for Skype Therapy for Anxiety & Depression?

If you're looking for Skype therapy for help with anxiety or depression or any other emotional problem that can benefit from psychotherapy then I do encourage you to look at my website and learn more about the online therapy service that I provide over Skype.

Skype is a very effective way of connecting clients and therapist together. You can see each other and this makes the therapy sessions as good as being in person for the vast majority of people.

Skype therapy is designed to help you learn more effective methods of working with your mind. It is designed to teach you how to work with your emotions and with your thoughts such that you don't become overwhelmed by them, that you don't become controlled by emotional and cognitive reactivity.

And the particular style of psychotherapy that I offer online is called Mindfulness Therapy. This has proved to be incredibly effective for treating anxiety and depression because it focuses very much on learning how to break free from those reactive habits, whereby we become lost in our reactive thinking or emotional reactivity. It allows you to break free from those habits and then effectively heal the underlying emotional suffering by developing a non-reactive relationship with your emotions and also with your thoughts.

Developing this conscious and non-reactive and non-habitual relationship with your emotions and thoughts is critical for change. This is how you are able to start the process of healing. Healing is really a function of how well you can stay conscious with your emotional pain. Our habit is to become reactive. We essentially lose consciousness and we become overwhelmed by our emotional pain. So learning how to break this habit is absolutely essential for any kind of meaningful psychotherapy. For mindfulness therapy, this is our primary focus. We start this In Session 1 and we develop it each week until you achieve that freedom.

The effects are quite dramatic and most clients that I work with see quite substantial changes within three to four sessions. And this is what you should be aiming for. Psychotherapy is not meant to be endless, it's meant to be very focused and give you the tools that you need to better manage your mind. In mindfulness therapy this is a very important principle. We want to produce results quickly, and as I say, most clients see quite quite big changes within the first few sessions.

So after establishing a non-reactive and mindful relationship with your emotions and with intrusive thoughts you then proceed to help these emotions heal. And we do this by developing a very compassionate relationship as well as a very conscious relationship with those emotions. This is necessary to help them heal. We learn how to interact with our emotions in a way that promotes healing and not further reactivity.

The best example that explains what this means is to look at the relationship between a parent and a child. If a parent becomes reactive and lost in their own reactivity then they cannot help the child heal if the child is suffering. For that to occur the parent must be free from reactivity he or she must be able to form a conscious and compassionate and loving relationship with the child in order to effect healing and help the child overcome its own suffering.

This relationship is exactly what we must cultivate internally in our in relationship to our emotions and also thoughts. We must build a relationship that is not only conscious but also based on compassion, friendliness and even love. We must learn to develop a friendly relationship towards our anxiety or depression or sadness or guilt or shame. Whatever it is we must build that quality of relationship with it if it is to heal. If we simply react with avoidance and aversion or resistance or suppression, then the emotions cannot heal.

So developing the right kind of relationship with our mind is quite essential. I will teach you exactly how to do this using mindfulness and in the first few sessions you will rapidly learn how to change the way that you relate to your emotions to your thoughts and also to your memories, if you are suffering from traumatic memories.
