Mindfulness-based Skype Therapy

Conventional talk therapy can be helpful, but often it does not transform the the underlying process that is the real cause of your anxiety or depression.

The same can be said for medications - prescription medications may relieve symptoms for a while, but medications are not going to change the underlying process that causes your emotional pain.

The kind of psychotherapy that I teach online is known as Mindfulness Therapy, which can be extremely powerful for handling chronic anxiety as well as for treating depression and other psychological problems resulting from habitual reactive thinking.

Most of my clients experience quite substantial changes after 3-4 sessions of Skype Therapy.

I am often asked if Skype therapy works, and the short answer is yes it most certainly does work for most common emotional psychological problems such as anxiety and depression. It is not recommended for conditions requiring medical treatment, of course, but this is not the usual case for most people. Good psychotherapy should be about teaching you practical skills and ways of working with difficult emotions and that can be done just as well through Skype.

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong and I provide online therapy through Skype for help with anxiety and depression and other common emotional problems. I am often asked if Skype therapy works and the answer is most certainly. It works very well indeed for common psychological problems like anxiety and depression, for OCD, for help with insomnia - I see lots of people who suffer from insomnia - for help with all forms of anxiety disorders like social anxiety and agoraphobia and panic attacks.

Probably, I would say, ninety percent of my clients suffer from anxiety and they have benefited tremendously from Skype therapy, so Skype therapy does work, and the main reason why it's so effective is because you can see each other as well as speak to each other in real-time - and that's very important for the quality of communication that's involved for good psychotherapy.

Also, of course, it depends entirely on the style of psychotherapy that you are working with.

So Skype therapy will not work for body-centered psychotherapy and it will not work for forms of psychotherapy that involves establishing up very close relationship with the therapist, but it is perfectly adequate for the kind of psychotherapy that I teach, which is focused on teaching you more effective ways of working with difficult emotions so that you don't become overwhelmed by anxiety or depression or the impulse drives of addictions.

This requires you learning skills and practical methods that you can practice by yourself at home - that's really my definition of good psychotherapy, it gives you the tools rather than making you dependent on a therapist.

So if you'd like to learn more about Skype therapy and how it can help you do please go to my website and then email me to schedule a trial Skype therapy session so you can see for yourself just how effective this approach can be.

Thank you!

Skype Counseling Therapy for Overcoming Anxiety and Depression without relying on drugs

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist. I specialize in Mindfulness Therapy and I offer Skype counseling and therapy online. This is a very effective way of getting access to professional help and learning very effective mindfulness-based ways of working with your emotions, with your anxiety or depression or addiction or emotional trauma or obsessive compulsive disorder and intrusive thoughts. Those are some of the areas that I work with online and find very good results using

Mindfulness Therapy, which is what I specialize in and have been teaching online for the last several years now.

Of course, I work a lot with people who are suffering from agoraphobia, who find it extremely difficult to leave home. The online therapy option is an excellent choice here if you're suffering from agoraphobia or if you are living abroad and can't find the right kind of therapist to work with where you're living or if you're living in a rural area where the choices are limited.

There are many reasons why online therapy is a good choice for you to look at. Another thing that's really important, besides the convenience and the access to psychotherapy, is that it's much more comfortable for most people to be able to work online. It's less overwhelming, less intimidating, because I certainly do not ascribe to a clinical approach to treating anxiety or depression. I see these as being psychological, emotional problems that respond very well to mindfulness-based techniques, ways of working with your emotions more effectively.

So the approach that I take is less clinical in nature and much more friendly basically and less intimidating for most people. This is very important. If you're working with difficult emotions, you want to feel very comfortable during your sessions so that you're able to really actively work with your emotions.

So during Mindfulness Therapy, which is what I would be teaching you during these online sessions, we work very directly with our emotions. We spend much less time talking about our emotions and much more time looking at them to see how they work, to uncover the mechanism that's creating the anxiety or depression or trauma.

We look at the patterns of reactivity that feeds that emotional suffering.

This is extremely important. Reactivity is the real issue in the vast majority of cases; that blind habitual reactivity in the form of reactive thoughts that proliferate, and layers of emotional reactivity such as avoidance and aversion. These all have the effect of preventing healing.

So learning to overcome the blind reactivity is a central theme in Mindfulness Therapy, and I will teach you exactly how to do all this, how to work with your emotions using mindfulness.

I will teach you how to apply mindfulness meditation, for example, to work directly with the mind to promote healing and well-being and freedom.

Mindfulness Therapy is a great choice and it works extremely well online. If you'd like to learn more, please reach out to me by email.

Go to the contact page on my website. Send me an email. Feel free to ask any questions you have and let's schedule a Skype therapy session if you are interested in learning how to apply mindfulness to overcome your anxiety or depression or other form of emotional suffering.

Online Skype Counseling without relying on anti-anxiety medications or antidepressants

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong and I offer online therapy via Skype, Skype counseling therapy using mindfulness-based techniques to help you better manage anxiety and depression.

So mindfulness-based therapy is extremely effective because it teaches you practical methods that you can employ yourself between sessions and develop the necessary skills to manage difficult emotions like anxiety and depression or addiction.

Mindfulness Therapy is about giving you practical tools. One of the most practical tools that we will explore during our sessions together is mindfulness meditation. So I teach mindfulness meditation, but specifically for the purpose of healing emotional suffering.

So during this kind of mindfulness meditation you learn how to meditate on your emotions. That means being able to develop a conscious and non-reactive relationship with your emotions, with your anxiety, with your depression, with your fear, with your obsession, whatever it might be. The most important thing you can do is learn to a develop conscious and non-reactive relationship with these emotions.

So during mindfulness training we learn how to sit with our emotions, meditate on them and develop non-reactive conscious awareness. We call this equanimity and it's a very powerful skill. It takes training, but if you train deliberately and you know what you're doing and you have some good guidance you can very quickly get to a place where you can observe your emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them.

The second part of our mindfulness work is about healing those emotions, healing the underlying emotional pain, whether it is fear or depression or guilt or anger or stress, whatever it might be. We work to heal that, and that is the response of compassion, which is a very important part of mindfulness therapy and mindfulness training. It Is not sufficient to just see emotional suffering. We must respond to it in a way that promotes its healing. This is the definition of compassion.

So building this alliance between True Self and Little Self is a major healing factor in itself. But we can also help the emotion heal by interacting with it with compassion. And this often involves working with the imagery of the emotion.

So all emotions like anxiety and depression or compulsion or stress or guilt, whatever it might be has certain specific internal psychological imagery that supports that emotion, and that imagery is vital. It's what actually causes the emotion. It Is what gets triggered in the mind that then causes the emotion to take form.

Now seeing this imagery is very, very useful because once you see the imagery, which is formed out of habit, is reactive, you can change that imagery. You can help the imagery change and this is the primary mechanism through which emotions change themselves and heal. When emotions heal they do so by changing their imagery. They become smaller, the color becomes less intense, and so on.

So we can facilitate that. We can speed up that process. So this is all part of the compassionate response of mindfulness, is working with the emotional imagery to help the emotion heal and to let go of its emotional suffering.

So this is a brief outline of mindfulness therapy that I offer during Skype counseling therapy sessions. If you would like to learn more contact me. If you would like to schedule a trial session contact me.

I see people through Skype because I find that to be the most effective way of establishing a good line of communication. It's important that we see each other. That makes the communication more effective. The mindfulness approach is very, very effective. I've helped hundreds of people over the last ten years or so using these methods.

And I tell all my clients you should expect to see significant changes within the first three to four sessions. This is substantially different than conventional talk therapy. We're not spending our time talking about our feelings. Rather we are examining how they work and how we can change those feelings. So if this interests you contact me and let's schedule a Skype Therapy session.
