The primary focus of Mindfulness Therapy is to treat the underlying psychological cause of your anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, stress, PTSD and emotional trauma and other forms of emotional suffering rather than just trying to manage symptoms through medication.

Mindfulness Therapy is a form of Buddhist Psychotherapy based on the teachings of Buddhist Psychology, which focuses on teaching you how to change the relationship that you have with your mind, your thoughts, beliefs, memories, and especially your emotions. The primary goal is to cultivate freedom in relationship to your mind instead of trying to control and "fix" the mind.

Mindfulness is a special form of consciousness, characterized by direct awareness and non-reactivity (equanimity, upekkha), love (metta), compassion (karuna) and joy (mudita). Mindfulness Therapy focuses on applying these qualities to promote healing of emotional suffering (dukha) and to enhance wellbeing and happiness within and without, in your mind and in your personal and societal relationships.

Everyone can benefit from developing greater kindness and compassion toward the mind and the inner emotional pain that causes suffering. When that inner relationship is right, then it purifies our outer relationships, too. Happiness within = happiness without.

I offer Mindfulness Therapy online via Skype or Zoom to make these extraordinary teachings available to anyone, anywhere.

Almost everyone who seeks my help has already tried conventional counseling. This may be excellent for treating acute emotional problems, but most people tell me that it is seldom sufficient to overcome chronic anxiety or depression. Most of my clients have tried prescription medications and are looking for an alternative approach, a more holistic approach that focuses on healing rather than just trying to reduce symptoms.

Mindfulness Therapy (Skype Therapy) focuses on teaching you how to work with your mind, giving you practical tools that you can apply yourself to promote healing and wellbeing. In this way it is quite different from the treatment-based approaches of clinical psychotherapy.

During these Skype sessions I will teach you mindfulness-based methods for healing all forms of anxiety disorders, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder, OCD, depression, and for help with and other emotional problems, by applying the very successful methods of Mindfulness-based Psychotherapy.

This approach is particularly effective and you can expect to see noticeable improvements after 3-4 sessions with me.

Online Mindfulness Psychotherapy is very effective for stopping anxiety and depression without using drugs. It is far better to treat the underlying cause of your emotional suffering as opposed to just managing symptoms.

The main healing factors cultivated during mindfulness-based psychotherapy are Conscious Awareness, which is vital for breaking free from the negative habits that cause anxiety and depression, and Inner Compassion, which is what allows healing and resolution of psychological suffering.

Everyone that I have worked with really benefits from the mindfulness approach that I teach for healing emotional suffering…

"Sessions with Peter are enjoyable – he is kind and patient and gentle. I love that the understandings I’m gaining in the sessions not only help me to heal my emotions but also contribute so much to my spiritual path."

During these counseling sessions I will teach you how to apply mindfulness to work with anxiety or depression. Mindfulness therapy is immensely effective when it is properly practiced, when you understand how to apply mindfulness to work with emotions.

Most people really are quite amazed at how quickly they recover from chronic anxiety or depression. It is really about learning how to change the way that you relate to the mind, to thoughts, to beliefs and to emotional reactions.

Typically we become lost in the mind, we become lost in rumination and other forms of reactive thinking that simply feed the emotional habits that create anxiety and depression. This is what we learn how to change during online therapy sessions. I will teach you in very great detail exactly how to overcome the emotional habits that cause anxiety and depression, and we do this by applying mindfulness, which means that we become more consciously aware of our habits, of our emotions.

We learn to break the habit of becoming overwhelmed by our emotions and becoming lost in rumination and non-productive worrying and reactive thinking.

So, this approach is very focused, it's very practical: I will teach you practical methods based on mindfulness and you will able to practice these between sessions, and you will see for yourself just how quickly you can change.

Most people will see quite substantial changes within 3-4 sessions; quite different than conventional talk therapy and of course this approach does not require medications.

Many people are desperately seeking alternatives to antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications, which do not change those underlying habits and also have unwanted side-effects.

So, if you would like to learn more about Skype counseling and how this mindfulness approach can help you, please contact me and we can schedule a Skype therapy session at a time that works for you and you can start seeing the benefits right away. Thank you!

Online Mindfulness Therapy over Skype for Managing Depression without relying on antidepressants

See a Psychotherapist Online over Skype for highly effective online mindfulness-based therapy for Depression and Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety and Agoraphobia, Addictions, and other psychological and emotional problems, including PTSD and Traumatic Stress.

To overcome depression you must develop a conscious and mindful relationship with your emotional pain, whatever form that takes. The most common problem that prevents recovery from depression is automatic and habitual reactive thinking and rumination, where we become lost in negative thinking and negative beliefs. This reactivity feeds depression and prevents depression from healing. The more we can break free from reactive thinking the faster we will recover.

The main factor that supports reactive thinking is the lack of conscious awareness. We become controlled by the habitual thoughts that we do not see. Mindfulness Therapy provides an extremely effective way to restore consciousness allowing us to regain freedom and choice in relation to our thoughts making them less reactive. Thoughts themselves are not the problem, it is the lack of consciousness that is the real problem. Re-establishing a conscious relationship with our thoughts and emotional reactions is the most important step in the recovery from depression and most other forms of emotional suffering.

Antidepressants may have a limited value in the short-term management of symptoms of depression, but medications are not a substitute for the psychological work of re-establishing inner conscious awareness. This is the primary focus of Mindfulness Therapy, and it is very effective for most people.

Online Mindfulness Therapy, available via Skype, offers a very effective way to manage and to overcome chronic depression by teaching you how to manage rumination and reactive thinking which feed depression as well as teaching you how to develop a non-reactive and compassionate relationship with the underlying emotions such as fear, feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, emotional trauma, profound loss, guilt and shame and overwhelming emotional stress. These core emotions need to heal inorder to fully recover from chronic depression and Mindfulness Therapy provides an extremely good approach for doing just this.

Online OCD therapy by Skype or ZoomOnline OCD therapy by Skype

Through Mindfulness Therapy we learn how to neutralize obsessive and intrusive thoughts, images and memories as well as learning how to neutralize the compulsive impulses that lead to compulsive behaviors.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist specializing in Mindfulness Therapy for the treatment of anxiety and depression and OCD and other emotional problems using mindfulness therapy and mindfulness-based techniques rather than medications or the conventional talking therapy that you may be familiar with.

Mindfulness Therapy really tries to address the underlying process that causes your anxiety or depression or problem with intrusive thoughts and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Skype Therapy for OCD is one of the services that I offer. All my online therapy is done via Skype. It's very important that you use Skype or Zoom or FaceTime or similar video platform because it's important that you can see each other during these sessions. This makes the therapy sessions much more effective.

During the online Skype therapy sessions that I offer I'll be teaching you how to work with the two primary elements of OCD.

So excessively worrying about that and obsessing over hygiene is one kind of reactive thinking that greatly accentuates the underlying anxiety. The thinking fuels anxiety feeds anxiety and it intensifies the anxiety. So that's one kind of thinking process.

The other kind of problems that people run into with thinking is intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts, intrusive images, intrusive memories. So this is sometimes called "Pure O" sort of a pure form of obsession that is caused by intrusive thoughts that really upsets the minds and cause considerable anxiety.

So that's one side of the work. We work with these obsessive or intrusive thoughts. On the other side of OCD is working with the compulsive behaviors.

So the thoughts convert into behaviors like hand washing or trying to clean every surface in the house multiple times over, or whatever it might be. The compulsive behavior is a response to the obsessive thinking.

We would typically imagine the obsessive-compulsive thought or activity, we would play it through in the mind and we would watch to see what kind of emotion is triggered. Typically, fear or anxiety, but it could be other emotions as I say. When we see that emotion we then start to build a relationship with the emotion itself based on consciousness, that's where the mindfulness comes in.

The second part of our work in mindfulness therapy is to see how those emotions work, to look at their structure. And it's become very clear to me through working with people over many years now, that the primary structure of the emotions, it is not thoughts, it is imagery.

So the thoughts are products of the emotion, but what causes the emotion is imagery, psychological imagery. The way that you see that fear or anxiety in the mind is what determines its intensity and that in turn leads to the propagation of thoughts and compulsive activities.

We examine this imagery in great detail during mindfulness work on our OCD. We literally meditate on those thoughts and the emotions underneath the thoughts to see how they work, to look at their imagery, to see what it is about the imagery that causes them to be intense, that creates that intense emotional charge.

So if you would like to learn more about how to work with either obsessive thinking or intrusive thoughts, memories and images, and also to work with compulsive behaviors, then please contact me. Let's schedule an online therapy session via Skype.

Skype Therapy for OCD is a very effective way of learning how to manage OCD. Most people see quite dramatic changes after the first three or four sessions. Once you learn how to apply mindfulness to work with your OCD you'll see very encouraging results.

If you are interested in Skype Therapy for OCD then please reach out to me. Contact me. Tell me more about your particular situation. Tell me what times and days work for you and then we can go ahead and schedule the first Skype Therapy session to help you overcome your obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Online Mindfulness Therapy over Skype for Managing PTSD & Trauma

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I specialize in Mindfulness Therapy for the treatment of anxiety, depression, addiction and also for working with traumatic memories and PTSD.

So I'm often asked what's the best approach for overcoming traumatic memories and managing PTSD preferably without the use of medications. My answer is that I really recommend that you work with a therapist who is experienced with working with trauma and one that really understands the structure of trauma, how it actually works in the mind.

I find that Mindfulness Therapy is one of the best approaches for working with PTSD because it does just that, it looks at the actual structure of those traumatic memories and how they work. And it looks at the patterns of reactive emotions that typically arise around the traumatic memory, whatever those emotions may be, such as anger, depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, you name it.

So that's what I mean by the structure of your trauma. We need to look at the actual memory imagery, itself. And we need to look at these patterns of habitual emotional reactivity that really feed that traumatic memory and stop it from healing.

It is very difficult for the mind to process that intense emotional energy, and when it gets stuck one is unable to process it, then it constellates around the imagery. This is the source of flashbacks, for example, that many soldiers experience when they return from the battlefield. It's the imagery that causes the trauma. That's the important thing to understand here.

So during Mindfulness Therapy we work on exploring this imagery looking at its structure in detail and then exploring how to change that imagery to help it reprocess and become digested and assimilated so that it no longer triggers emotional trauma.

So seeing that is really important. So the first thing we focus on is trying to create some distance, if you like, between you and the memory image. We do this by developing your position as the Observer looking at the image to break that habit of reactive identification, which is the technical term for what happens in a flashback, where you literally collapse into the picture and you become the picture, or part of the picture. That's reactive identification. We lose our perspective and we become dominated by the memory image.

So we need to train ourselves to be able to maintain our separate position as the observer.

We do this by the process of mindfulness meditation where we are literally meditating on that traumatic memory image. But now we're doing it consciously on our terms and that brings a dramatically different result and outcome. We train with it. We learn to sit with it. We watch how we react to it. If we start to collapse into the image then we watch that, we see it clearly and we stop it before it takes effect.

We start to change the structure of the memory image too. For example, make it smaller. It's quite remarkable how much relief you can get by simply taking that memory image and making it really small, making it the size of a grain of sand, and taking that memory image and then placing it somewhere that feels right. It might be to place it on the floor; it might be to place it on a beach with other grains of sand.

Then the second part of working with PTSD is reprocessing the emotional reactions. Now many of them will also change when you can reprocess the trauma itself because those emotional reactions are feeding off the traumatic emotion itself; that is the fuel that feeds the emotional reactions of fear, of depression, of guilt, of shame, or whatever it might be, or helplessness.

In meditation work with mindfulness we are actually simply speeding up this process of healing.

So being able to work via Skype is very popular. It's more convenient and it's very comfortable for many people. It is less clinical in nature. So we don't pursue clinical treatment in online therapy; what we do is we work on changing and healing the underlying process that produces your PTSD symptoms.

So if you would like to learn more, please contact me and schedule a session. Typically you'll see quite big changes within three to four sessions once you start applying the mindfulness techniques that I will be teaching you during these sessions.

Online Mindfulness Therapy for Stress Reduction

Online Mindfulness Therapy for Stress Reduction provides an extremely effective tool for managing stress. During these online mindfulness therapy sessions I will teach you specific ways of working with the habitual patterns of reactive thinking that contribute so much to emotional stress, worrying, anxiety and depression.

This approach is very effective because it works on changing the underlying process that causes stress, and most people see dramatic improvements and significant reduction in their stress levels after 3-4 online sessions.

The first step in mindfulness training is to train ourselves to become aware of reactive thoughts the moment they arise. Of course our habit is one of unawareness, which results in becoming lost in our thoughts. The thoughts proliferate and overpower the mind causing emotional stress and anxiety.

When the mind becomes crowded with thoughts it become less able to make decisions and skillful actions and more prone to error, which causes more stress-based thinking.

Reactive thinking creates a vicious cycle that leads to more stress and more reactive thinking. If we do not gain control of this reactive process it can lead to depression and chronic anxiety. Chronic stress can also lead to health problems and can seriously affect our relationships, too.

When we are over-stressed we tend to become more irritable and angry. Our family life suffers and we often become more withdrawn and disconnected from life. Chronic stress can also lead to addiction, and is one of the major contributing factors for alcoholism and substance abuse.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional online therapist. I offer online therapy via Skype for anxiety, depression and for stress.

I teach Mindfulness Therapy for stress reduction. This approach is very effective for helping you change the underlying process that causes emotional stress. Now, what is that underlying process?

Well, if you look closely you will see that the majority of stress that we experience is produced by uncontrolled reactive thinking. We may find some stimulus that generates an anxiety or concern and then immediately we start proliferating thoughts; thoughts around "What if...?" or anticipation of some kind of catastrophe.

So, this kind of catastrophic thinking, rumination, or just general proliferation of thought from the single stimulus is what generates most of our emotional reactivity.

The purpose of online mindfulness therapy for reducing stress is to teach you how to prevent this process of reactive proliferation of thinking.

Mindfulness is a very sophisticated tool of awareness that allows you to see what is happening when it is happening so you can catch these reactive thinking processes earl on, before they start to gain momentum and cause emotional stress.

So that is, in brief, what we focus on during these sessions of online mindfulness therapy for emotional stress reduction. If you would like to learn more, please read my website and then please contact me and we can schedule a Skype therapy session to help you work on reducing your stress levels through mindfulness therapy.

Addiction Recovery through Mindfulness Therapy via Skype

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I am a professional psychotherapist specializing in mindfulness therapy, which I teach over Skype for working with emotional problems and also addictions. So if you're interested in online therapy to help you overcome your addiction and to recover from addiction, then please go to my website and learn more about the Mindfulness Therapy approach that I have developed and schedule a session with me over Skype.

So for most people suffering from substance abuse and particularly alcohol addiction, which is what I mostly work with, there are always underlying emotions that are fueling that addiction. There is inner psychological pain that is the root cause of the addiction. People use alcohol to try and escape their addiction. This is the most common situation that I find. There is underlying depression, low self-esteem, sometimes tremendous stress and very often some form of emotional trauma that is fueling the addiction. So to recover fully, you have to heal that underlying emotional suffering and that is the focus of Mindfulness Therapy. It's a way of working with your emotions very directly, quite different than just talking about your feelings.

So I will teach you how to do this in our sessions together. It takes a little training, but once you start taking this direct approach to healing your addiction, you will see results much faster than just talking about your feelings or trying to avoid them or suppress them or other escape behaviors, that simply is not going to work. You have to work directly on healing the problem underneath.

So if you'd like to schedule some sessions with me, then please contact me via my website. Send me an email. Tell me about your specific needs and we can schedule a session.

Let me help you treat and heal the underlying emotional and psychological cause of your addiction through Online Mindfulness Therapy.

Skype Counseling Psychotherapy Service without using anti-anxiety medications or antidepressants

Welcome. My name is Peter Strong and I provide online Skype counseling therapy for anxiety and depression and for work with addictions and many other common forms of psychological suffering that are due to habitual reactive thinking.

So the primary way that we go about changing anxiety and depression is by looking for these underlying patterns of habitual reactive thinking. Thinking does not cause anxiety or depression, but when thoughts become reactive, they tend to feed the anxiety and depression very much in the same way that fuel feeds a fire. The fire needs that fuel in order to stay alive. And it's the same for anxiety and depression and most other forms of emotional suffering. They require fuel to keep going. And that fuel is provided in the form of habitual, reactive thoughts.

The issue that most people have is that they're not aware of these thoughts. They're not aware of them in the sense that they have a conscious, objective relationship to these reactive thoughts. The most typical situation is that the reactive thoughts become habitual. They operate subconsciously out of awareness.

So we may be aware of the suffering. We may be aware of the triggers that led to that suffering, but we're not really fully consciously aware of the reactive thoughts that are generated and that feed the underlying anxiety or depression.

So the chief object in mindfulness therapy, which is what I specialize in, is developing a fully conscious relationship with your reactive thoughts so that you can see them very clearly. The more that you can develop objective awareness of your thoughts, the less power they will have to create the underlying anxiety or depression.

So we're training to look at those thoughts and not identify with them. And not believe them, not disbelieve them. It is not necessary to analyze the thoughts. It's not necessary to try and convince yourself that the thoughts are irrational. You're not trying to really get rid of the thoughts. All you are trying to do is cultivate that all-important conscious awareness. When you can see the thoughts, then you have choice.

And so through meditation, you can begin to break the habit of reactive thinking, worrying, rumination and so on that is the real fuel source for the underlying anxiety or depression. When you cut off the fuel source, then you create the right inner environment in which those forms of emotional suffering can heal, Anxiety and depression will heal the moment you stop feeding them with reactive thinking.

You can also increase the rate of healing by developing not only a conscious relationship, a mindful relationship with those thoughts and the emotions, but also developing a relationship based on friendliness and compassion. So you learn to develop a friendly relationship with your anxiety or depression. You develop a friendly relationship with the thoughts that feed that anxiety or depression.

To be friendly means that you are free. That is one of the characteristics of the free mind, the mind that is not identified. It is free. And in that freedom, it can develop those qualities of friendliness and compassion. These are two essential aspects of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the development of direct conscious awareness characterized by friendliness and compassion.

So when you bring that quality of mind to your anxiety or depression that will greatly accelerate the rate of healing. So if you don't feed the fire of anxiety and depression, those emotions will heal by themselves, eventually. But if you add in the ingredients of friendliness and compassion, then you accelerate that rate of healing considerably.

So this is a brief overview of mindfulness therapy. There's a lot more to learn. And I will teach you all about how to apply mindfulness to overcome anxiety and depression during these online Skype therapy sessions.

So if you would like to schedule some online counseling therapy sessions with me, then please go to my website. Send me a request through my contact page. Tell me what times work for you. Tell me more about your particular situation. And we can schedule some sessions and you can see for yourself just how effective both online therapy is and also how effective mindfulness therapy can be for healing emotional suffering.
