Antiseptic
Cleanse the cervix and vaginal wall with betadine. This can be done with large cotton swabs or cotton balls and a ring forceps soaked with betadine solution. This step reduces, but does not eliminate bacterial contamination of the endometrial cavity. Be sure the patient is not allergic or sensitive to iodine containing antiseptics.
