The Dorsal Clamp

Take the opened hemostat and assess the full length of the prepuce as shown.

  • Avoid stretching the prepuce; you should only extend it. Stretching the prepuce will lead to excessive removal of foreskin.

  • Partially withdraw the still unclamped hemostat so that it covers about 3/4 the length of the prepuce, ensuring about 4-5mm of prepuce between the tip of the hemostat and the corona.

    • Clamp the hemostat tightly for three clicks and keep in place for about 15 seconds. Clamping the hemostat for three clicks ensures crushing of the preputial skin and allows for good hemostasis.
