Dilatation and Curettage

Sometimes called D & C.
Performed in the operating room, under general anesthesia (greatly increasing the cost and risk to the patient, as compared to office EMB).
Is a blind sampling which misses much endometrium and many intraluminal abnormalities (numerous studies have demonstrated no better sensitivity or specificity than office EMB).
