Patient Position and Skin Preparation

  • Place the patient in a position that allows the surgeon best access to the lesion. This should also be a position that is comfortable for the patient. The patient may be seated, or placed in a supine or prone position.

  • Determine if patient is allergic to iodine or betadine

    • If not, use betadine times three

    • If so, use hebicleanse

  • If performing a shave excision, an alcohol prep is adequate given the low risk of infection.
