Saline Infusion Sonography

Is uncomfortable for most patients, secondary to installation of saline in the uterus.
Allows indirect visualization of intraluminal abnormalities and may obviate the need for hysteroscopically directed biopsies.
Most patients with AUB will still require histologic evaluation of endometrial tissue. Is not available at many institutions.
