Removal

For removal of FSE, detach the electrode from the monitoring cable and rotate the electrode counter-clockwise until it is free from the presenting part and remove carefully.
This would work whether removing prior to delivery or after delivery. You may also choose to cut the electrical wire and unravel the twisted wires which would result in a counter-clockwise rotation of the spiral tip and the fetal scalp skin.
Do not pull or tug electrode from fetal scalp as this could result in scalp injury.
Document that the electrode was removed as an intact piece.
