Risks of Penile Nerve Block
1. Penile shaft ecchymosis
2. Penile shaft hematoma (from puncturing the dorsal penile artery or vein; use direct pressure to minimize this.)
3. Inadvertent lidocaine injection into penile artery or corpus cavernosum (can cause arrhythmias or seizure, but not likely at the clinical doses being used.)
4. Inadvertent excess lidocaine injection (maximum safe dose is 3.3 to 4.5mg/kg)
