Reimbursement
Most insurance companies do not reimburse for acupuncture (including Michigan).
Some have created discount networks, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield Naturally Blue of Michigan, where practitioners agree to provide treatments at a reduced rate when presented with the insurance identification card.
Typical out of pocket cost for a new patient visit:
Physician Acupuncturist – $150-$250
Non-physician – $85-$150
Typical cost for follow up:
Physician Acupuncturist – $100-$150
Non-physician – $40-$85
