Weight Watchers works by assigning a point value to all foods. Members of the plan are then counseled online or through weekly meetings on point goals to achieve desired weight loss or weight maintenance. Dieters can then consume any foods they like, as long as the corresponding points equal less than the daily point goal. This plan is designed to incorporate all foods and helps users understand portion control. Meetings aim to teach about nutrition and offer support groups for users. Unfortunately, this plan can be costly and takes time to achieve goal weight. Additionally, users can "waste" points on unhealthy foods and can miscalculate if portion size is not closely watched (25).
