Physical therapists (PTs) complete a minimum two-year masters program at a school of physical therapy and pass national and state level certification examinations. The physical therapy curriculum focuses on rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system. Patients are generally referred from physicians after surgery, stroke, injury, or with pain syndromes from deconditioning. PTs help patients improve strength and flexibility which alleviates pain and improves function.
