Protein

Previous | Next

We learned in biochemistry that proteins are required for the proper structure and function of various body systems. Cellular, tissue and organ structures require protein building blocks. Proteins such as hormones and enzymes are required for the intricate workings of the human body. Proteins are a vital part of a healthy diet, so patients need to understand how much protein is needed each day, how to assess protein quality, and how to choose healthy sources of protein.
