Dress Wound

After hemostasis is achieved or the wound is closed, clean off the betadine and dried blood from the area with a normal saline-soaked gauze pad. Next, cover the wound with topical antibiotic, i.e., bacitracin, and a sterile dressing.

In areas such as the scalp were it is difficult to apply a bandage, the wound may be left open to the air.
