Tenaculum Removal

Previous | Next

Carefully remove the tenaculum from the cervix. To avoid additional injury, close the teeth before withdrawing from the vagina. Apply pressure to the tenaculum sites with a large cotton swab or cotton ball held with a ring forceps, until bleeding is stopped. Occasionally a small amount of Monsel's solution or silver nitrate sticks may need to be applied to provide hemostasis.
