  • Know the biopsysiological mechanisms of guided imagery and relaxation exercises

  • Become aware of the demonstrated efficacy of guided imagery interventions

  • Understand the indications and contraindications for use of guided imagery by patients

  • Know the specific techniques involved in the practice of guided imagery

  • Know how to communicate information about guided imagery to patients

Skills

Residents, trainees, and faculty will:

  • Be able to apply appropriate imagery techniques to a clinic/bedside setting scenario

  • Be able to able to access guided imagery resources for patients/family members

Attitudes

Residents, trainees, and faculty will:

  • Acknowledge that imagery interventions have the potential to improve patient outcomes and enhance patient mastery of somatized fear and/or stress that negatively impacts patient wellness
