Needle Characteristics

An acupuncture treatment consists of special steel needles inserted into acu-points.
In the U.S., needles are considered medical devices and regulated by the FDA.
Each needle is thick as a human hair, sterile, solid, single use and disposable (by medical waste containers).
Usually 2 to 15 needles are inserted, ranging in depth from several millimeters to inches depending on location.
