Perforation of the Uterus
Actual risk of perforation is unknown, as most women who experience this are unaware and tolerate it well. There is a theoretical risk of introducing an intra-abdominal infection or producing a bleeding wound in the uterine wall. The patient should be instructed to call if she experiences fever, abdominal pain, or excessive bleeding.
