Pulse Diagnosis
Twelve separate pulses exist in the Chinese medical model.
Each pulse reflects the current functioning state of a paired organ.
The most common place to assess the pulse is on the radial artery near the wrist crease.
There are three positions where the examiner rests the fingers over the pulses.
At each of the three locations, a superficial and deep pulse can be palpated – six total per side.
28 separate pulse characteristics have been identified.
The pulse is checked before and after a treatment to assess treatment effects.
