Monounsaturated

Monounsaturated fats contain one carbon-to-carbon double bond and are normally liquid at room temperature. They come from oils such as canola, peanut and olive oils as well as avocados, almonds, peanuts and other sources (Click here to view sources and serving sizes on the University of Michigan Integrative Medicine Healing Foods Pyramid). In addition to benefits listed above, monounsaturated fats are particularly important in creating the myelin membrane structure of the nervous system.
