Vasovagal Reaction
Some patients will develop a vasovagal reaction, or lose consciousness, with cervical dilation. Patients should sit up slowly with assistance after the procedure.
If the patient feels unsteady, clammy, or nauseated, lie her back down and try again in a few minutes.
It is important to observe the patient in the office for several minutes prior to sending them home to make sure a reaction does not reoccur.
