Stabilizing the Prepuce

Place sterile fenestrated drape on the infant with penis coming through the opening. See Figure 1 below.

Use a straight hemostat and clamp the prepuce (foreskin) at about 2 o'clock, making sure to get the full thickness of the prepuce (both outer and inner layers). The bite should about 3mm in length. Clamp the hemostat tightly for 2 to 3 clicks. See Figure 2 below.

Do the same on the infant's right at about 10 o'clock. See Figure 3 below.

These two hemostats will stabilize the prepuce while breaking up the "adhesions" joining the prepuce and glans together.
