Introduction to Meeting Management

Previous | Next

Meetings are often thought of as one of the "necessary evils" of business life. Many people try to avoid them at all costs while others seem to spend countless hours in meetings that yield little to no results. Meetings can be a very expensive business activity when one considers the amount of time and the cost of labor for the participants. Despite these facts, as work becomes more complex, dispersed in location, and focused on a team approach, the need for meetings continues to grow. Given this dynamic, the need for effective meeting management skills is paramount in importance for an effective and efficient workplace.

Meeting management skills can be grouped into four major steps with specific activities within each step.

  • Planning the meeting

  • Conducting the meeting

  • Managing group dynamics

  • Meeting closure

This module will take you through each step and the associated activities.
