Orange Rolls
What you need:
- 2 cups warm water
- 2/3 cup nonfat dry milk
- 2 tbsp. yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 5 to 5 1/2 cups flour, separated
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp. orange juice
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp. orange juice
Directions:
- Combine water and dry milk until milk is dissolved.
- Add yeast, sugar, salt, butter, egg and 2 cups flour. Mix on low until incorporated, then medium for 2 minutes.
- Add 2 more cups flour. Mix on low until incorporated, then medium for 2 minutes.
- Add 1/2 cup flour and mix again.
- Cover and let rise until doubled. Punch down.
- Turn onto a floured surface and flour top lightly. Separate into 3 pieces.
- Roll out into 9x13-inch rectangles.
- In a bowl, mix butter, sugar, and orange juice together.
- Spread 1/3 mixture onto each rectangle.
- Roll up like a jelly roll and cut into 1-inch slices.
- Place into a greased baking pan and let rise until doubled.
- Bake at 350 for 20 minutes (some may cook faster, mine took 25 minutes).
- Mix together powdered sugar and orange juice for glaze.
- Drizzle with orange glaze when done cooking.
