Mom's Soft Raisin Cookies

What you need:

    • 1 cup water
    • 2 cups raisins
    • 1 cup shortening
    • 1 3/4 cups sugar
    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
    • 1 tsp. vanilla
    • 1 tsp. baking powder
    • 1 tsp. baking soda
    • 3 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:

    1. In a small pan, bring raisins and water to a boil. Cook for 3 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
    2. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening; add sugar gradually.
    3. Then add eggs and vanilla.
    4. Combine rest of ingredients (all dry) and add into wet ingredients gradually.
    5. Stir in raisins (with water).
    6. Drop by the teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 350* oven for 12 to 14 minutes.
