French Bread Rolls
What you need:
- 1 tbsp. active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 egg, separated
- 4 to 5 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tbsp. cold water
Directions:
- Combine yeast, warm water, and sugar together in a stand mixer. Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Add salt, vegetable oil, and egg yolk. Add 3 cups flour and mix until combined.
- Add more flour until dough is soft and barely sticks to your fingers when you touch it.
- Knead for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour 45 minutes.
- Punch. Divide dough into 8 to 10 pieces. Shape into rolls.
- Place on greased cookie sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.
- Mix egg white with cold water and brush on dough.
- Bake at 375* for 10 minutes.
- Brush with more egg wash and bake 8 to 10 more minutes.
