1 cup butter softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
4 cups flour
granulated sugar for rolling(maple sugar if you can find it)

Procedure
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar. Add the egg, syrup and vanilla.
Mix until well blended. Combine the dry ingredients. Stir dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well blended. Shape into one inch balls and roll in the granulated sugar. Place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and flatten slightly.
Bake 8-10 minutes and let cool on a wire rack. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
